If you guys remember I ran into a problem with my Alpine unit because a friend did a half "butt" job with the installation..anyhow the unit has been fixed.
On to the new problem. I had it profesionally installed this time along with a DVD player by Figar Vision. The Alpine unit will play AM/FM but will not go into AUX!! It will go to NAV but since I dont have the optional NAV unit this is useless to me. When I hit the source button it will not do anything
When I got the unit back when it was repaired, the "guy" showed me that the unit did work and I even saw it go into AUX when he was demoing the unit. The unit won't let me go to the SETUP menu ....
So now I only have a fancy radio with a flip up monitor, that cant go into the AUX input.
if I'm not mistaken you need to buy a $18 plug from alpine that plugs into the CD changer input on the back of you radio and then it you can use the aux..This plug turns the cd changer input into a aux. input..if you plan on adding a changer in the future than you may want to get the another alpine plug that allows both aux. and changer, but it is more money..you should be able to buy this plug at any alpine retailer..I'm not 100% sure but I think this is the problem..
Is the Alpine unit a "picky" one? I mean is there a not compatible DVD player that it will not even recognize even if the wires are connected correctly?
Im bringing my car back in today with the owner's manual and hope that they can figure it out.

It's not a picky unit it just doesn't have many options built in to it..thats the reason there is no external brain..If you get this plug(if it needs it) than you should no problem..Check the manual and see if it requires any other parts to get AUX..
If you don't mind me asking, what exactly was damaged on your unit? I remember your thread a while back and replied, always wondered what happened and how much it cost to repair? Also, the bypass switch, do you have to have the parking brake on to be able to see a video? Or was it bypassed?
What happened to the unit was basically the whole circuit got fried and had to be replaced. Good thing the Alpine dealer near me had some "cool" installers and had it fixed even without my original reciept. All in all it cost me $260 , but my friend paid me back because he really felt bad about the situation.
The bypass switch gives me the OPTION to view the screen when Im driving...* I donot drive with the screen on* And no I donot need to have my parking brake on to watch a video, all it takes is a flip of the switch
