Carputer Project Finished!
This took me a lot longer than I expected but it's finally installed. I just have some minor things to work out.
Here's the specs:
EPIA MII10000 1ghz Mini ITX Mobo w/ onboard sound and video
512mb ram
60gb 2.5" hd
Lilliput 7" VGA touchscreen monitor
Slim DVD drive
D-Link Airplus 802.11g wi-fi card
TripNav 200 GPS w/ iGuidance 2.0 Navigation software
Gyration wireless rf keyboard and mouse
Morex 3677 case w/60w power supply
Carnetix CNX-P1260 regulator w/ shutdown controller
Windows XP Home Edition running Coyote MediaCar w/ Brushed Metal Skin
I mounted the monitor to the right of the HU for now. Once a HU quality am/fm tuner comes out then I'll mount it in place of the HU. All sound is from the onboard sound going through the AUX Input on the Kenwood HU. I used all high quality cables and it is super clear with no noise. I'm very happy so far with the Lilliput. If you buy one just be sure to buy it from a reputable place (mp3car.com). Hopefully I won't regret not springing for the Xenarc. All in all this project cost me about $1200 for everything. Well worth it IMO.
OK, Here's the pics!

Cool stuff!. Is the screen you have a touchscreen (or how do you navigate it?)?

wow. i'm really impressed. it looks so nice. i like how you mounted the screen out of the cup holder i guess since i'm in college the only thing i would worry about such a great project is security. i like how the screen's in a great place but i feel like it's also exposed for those ppl w/ bad intentions.

ACleanSC4: I haven't tried FrodoPlayer yet. I'm going to be downloading all of the different software for carpc's and testing them out on my desktop soon. I do like MediaCar but the player list is what I hate about too. Hows your project coming?? I'd also love to see some current pics of your installation.
Technics/no2faber/mteele : I used a piece of angle iron and fabbed it by heating and bending it to the shape I needed. I then mounted it to the inside of the cup holder using a rivet and a bolt and nut. I used a cutting wheel to cut the mounting section thin enough so that the Lilliput slides over it snugly. I can easily slide it up, disconnect it and hide it from prying eyes
DaveGS4: Yeah, the Lilliput is a touchscreen VGA monitor. I keep a stylus in the car for the smaller icons and stuff. The Gyration mouse really kicks ***. It can be used in mid air. Anyone who has a carputer should have one.
Aliga: Thanks man. Did you ever start a carputer project???
