Default best speakers

Hi, Guys: I am planning to upgrade the 4 speakers on the doors and the tweeters on my GS-400 2000. I already replaced the sub with a Infinity 100.3dvc 10" in a box and a Zapco amp. The sound have improved 70% , but, I want more resolution, so I am looking for brands. Don`t want to make heavy modifications to the doors, 4" will do, unless the difference in sound quality are substantial. Because this is my baby, money is no concern, within limits, of course. Component speakers, like Focal 100 KP , and Dynaudio, etc. My question is, which is best ? Are there other brands, even tho more expensive ? I certainly want the absolute best. My taste in music is Jazz and some classical, so , hi-end stuff is required. I can use advise here. Thanks....... Josey

it depends on your ear Everyone hears a little different and everyone has their own taste

Try Focal Utopia(going to be phased out soon, you might be able to get a really good deal), DynAudio, and CDT.

I agree. But size , judging by my research, is important. All the speakers models that I like (Focal 165 K2 and Dynaudio 220MKII , are 6.5" size. Am looking for something I can directly install, or with minimun adapter to the doors. From 4" to 6.5" is a big difference . Is there anything out there 4" worth installing component system, or at list, 5" ? Am puzzled . If I want a nice decent system I will have to modify the doors big time , using MDF ? well, as long as I can have some guidance, but still need advise here.

What does MDF stand for? (Sorry, I'm sure it's a stupid question, but I'm relatively new to this).

If you can use a jigsaw: most of us have used the existing plastic enclosure as a template by drawing an outline on the new MDF board (going around the edge of the enclosure), then cutting out the panel and cutting speaker hole. It's pretty simple if you've ever done simple woodworking. You can then make some brackets to screw the panel to the existing mounting holes in the door. You also need to adequately seal the panel to the door by using some strip caulk. If you choose to make the panels, you are then not limited to 4" speakers. Or you can have an installer do this.
