Default Remote entry

Does anybody know why I have to be right next to the car for the remote to work?

I just put a new battery thinking that was the problem.

Is there a way to put an antenna on the receiver?

Thanks!

Here is the strange part....

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But it works everytime if the key is touching the car in some way. Even if it is the glass.

I just hoped that I could add some kind of antenna or wire to boost the signal.
