Default New to CL...... Stereo Question??

Whats up guys,
so this is the first time im posting on club lexus. ive had my GS300 (2001) for a little over 2 years now. Slowly i am trying to mod my car, but money is always an issue. From reading the forums i see that a lot of you guys really know your stuff.
Anyway.....
Right now im trying to upgrade my stereo...
i have 2 Audiobahn eternal 12" subs (1100 rms watts each)
and a Planet Audio VX2200D Amp (2250 watts at 1 ohm, maximum current 175 A) pushing them.
So this is the problem.... i had this set up in my car for about a week and a half, and it killed my alternator. when i hooked it up there was dimming lights which i thought i could get rid of when i got around to buying a capacitor.
i fixed the alternator, my system is off now but i wanna hook it back up....
will getting a optimum battery, and a 2.5 Farad Capacitor do the trick, or would i also need a higher output alternator?????.... eventually i will be adding more electronics to the car (neons, TV's, etc).
Also, i want to take out the stock sub, can i just take it out and tape off the wires?? or will not have anything there have some bad effects on the stock amp (overheating, etc)

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated

Hi, and welcome. You can just disconnect the sub and the factory amp will not overheat. thats no problem. I would remove the sub alltogether though, cuz then the sound from the trunk can come through that hole.

I have a jl 500.1 amp, and i have 1 jl 12w7. I have 4 farad caps. And my headlights dont dim now. If i really turn it up, they do a little. I also have 2gauge amp wiring. What is your amp wiring? You might need to upgrade your alternator if your gonna add a whole bunch of stuff.

Thanks,
yeah, i was gonna remove the stock sub altogether. My amp wiring is 4 gage...should i make it 2?
what about a second battery just for the system and accesories, can the lexus alternator charge both batteries?
or would that still not solve the problem since the alternator wouldnt be strong enough?
