Default Bad AM reception on my 95 LS400

I love everything about the car, except the AM radio reception is poor...

I think its the antenna, is there any spots where connections can come loose?

I found something on Consumer Guide about a similar problem with a Lexus 470 96 vintage

Antenna: Problems with the radio-antenna ground connection corroding causes static, especially on AM stations.

my question is, where would I find the radio-antenna ground connection...?

Just had my 90K service, asked about the radio and my service rep says its the radio.

He said the unit just gets poor AM and really can't be fixed...

well, at least I got an honest answer and don't have to bash my head looking for it...

I helped the AM reception on my 95 SC by replacing the cable from the radio to the antenna. I ran it down under the console, under the rear carpet and the rear seat. The original cable runs up over the passenger side door which seems like it would be farther away from electrical noises but the new cable got rid of a lot of noise.

The radio reception still isn't very good. Almost any $5 cheapy transistor radio is better which doesn't say much for Lexus. This is one of the biggest gripes I have ever had with both of my Lexuses.
