Default Audio started cuting out.

I was driving this morning and the audio in my system cut out. The head unit ( Alpine ) shut off for about 1/2 a second, the headlights and interior lights dimmed. This happened about 4 times this morning and only at high volumes.

Does this mean I need to add a capacitor? It has been working fine until this morning. Could one of the amps have a loose connection?

Any explanations on voltage would help too.

EDIT: After market head unit, amps, speakers, and wiring.

Default Amp Issue

I am having the same problem. I have a 1998 GS4 with a nacamichi system. After about 2 hours at a high volume my radio cuts off. **** is annoying. I don't know what the problem is.

Default

I found out what my problem was, mayb ethis will help you.

I was using a Class A/B amp to power my subs. Class A/B isn't very efficient as its designed for sound quality versus raw power. In my case, I was killing my amp trying to get it to push my subs. So the amp would go into thermal pretection. It got so bad at times that I would have to disconnect all the wires, leave them out so the amp could reset then connect them again. 5 minutes later - Zap - no amp. I connected the Class A/B amp to my cabin speakers and it would run fine - no problems.

I sold my Class A/B amp and bought a more efficient Class D amp and I haven't had any problems since. I've been pushing the new amp hard for the last week and it doesn't even get warm.

Default Amp Overheating..

If the amp is overheating like that try a bigger amp (bigger amp = bigger heatsink and more heat dissapation) so it doesnt have to be pushed to that limit or add on a cooling fan Stinger (http://www.stinger-aamp.com) has some nice cooling fans as well as the parts to connect it to your amp so it only turns on when the amp starts to heat up too much.
