Thumbs up Carputer

Bigmonkey70, that's hot! I love it...makes me think of the batmobile! That's so much more useful than a TV to have in your car. I started to get a tv in mine and then said to myself "dude, you watch tv at home, not on the road...you don't need that, it won't get you anymore punannie" Ha ha ha, but seriously that's hot. I give a thumbs up!

for the creativity...but too bad the monitor covers the center vents. have you thought about doing the flush mount replacing the am/fm radio section? too much cluster around that area, it'll look a lot cleaner with it built in...

where did you get "media car"? that's cool how it's customized with the "L" in the center.

Thanks everyone .....

This is only version 1.0 of this carputer project. The LCD is temporary for now. I still looking for a right spot for the LCD. I am looking at many way to get a clean LCD installation including flush mount the screen into the OEM radio spot.

Nice. You beat me to the punch. Mine's all within the stock stereo though, well mostly. No peeking until finished though.

Do you really like Street Atlas btw?

What is the sound quality fo the unit?

Ummmm Street Atlas is pretty much junk. My PDA destinator and Tomtom Navigator beat Street Atlas 10 to 1. I probably will go with Deluo Routis on the next wave of upgrade. As for sound qualiy, the FM modulator output really exceed my expectation. Absolutely no static or inteference at all even when driving in the city. The only thing is that i had to turn the volume **** a little higher to get the boom. About the screen, I might go your route eventually, if i decide to keep the car. I didn't want to ditch the OEM stereo as i might sell the car. I saw a company sell the all in one carputer that fit a regular dash stereo. Is that the one you used?

LOL, that's the response I was expecting. I bought the bundle package as well and pretty much threw the Atlas in the trash.

I did not buy any casings for the dash. All cosmetics are being built of stock parts to remain...well...stock looking. Some of this stuff is a PITA. I am building my own interface. Which one is that that you are using?

I am using the Accele FM Modulator ... I actually bought quite a few and tried them all.... The Accele is the best .... closest to the Blitzsafe Aux adapter (of course not available for our car). I then returned the rest.

Do you have any problem with the earthmate locked on Satellites? Mine sometime take a while to lock.... if i stick the antenna outside the car it locked almost immediately with 6 or more satellites. My PDA GPS has no problem at all locking 6 or more satellites.

Not everything is worked out on the project. Some glass does interfere with the signal. Some tints especially affect it too.

I was talking about the skin on the box though. Where do you download that skin?

My install was started to provide engine diagnostics on the fly and secondly for entertainment.
