Default rear wing downforce

I haven't found any info on the downforce numbers produced by the deployable rear wing on the LC. I have it on mine, and was wondering if it really did anything really useful. Is it just a source of added weight due to the addition of a mechanism to operate it and a source of additional drag at speed? If I remember correctly, the wing deploys at 50 mph normally, but at 70 mph when the car is in Eco mode. Does that suggest deployment produces a hit on economy because of additional drag?

Without factory measurements and publication of such tests, it's not possible to assume any number to either question. As an aeronautical engineer, I can tell you that they all include complex dependencies that can only be calculated and determined through experimentation.

This synopsis on the RC F active wing is the only relevant info I recall reading (in English)...

You have a spoiler not a wing. Yes it's there for a purpose.

thanks for the correction. Like the articles states, confusing the two makes you look like an idiot on the internet, so I guess I qualify

This should help confuse the clarification...

The LC500 window sticker refers to this item as "active rear spoiler". However it's only referred to as "active rear wing" in the owner's manual (never spoiler).
