Default Rear view camera

Question if I may and on behalf of a fellow 500 owner who needed to replace his trunk lid rear view camera. Said owner was told by his dealer that it was an "involved" process that also required the rear window glass to be removed. Has anyone here any experience of replacing their camera? Just doesn't sound right to me and in practice I would have thought it was an easy repair.

No, thankfully mine's okay, it's someone on another forum but it chimed with me because I too had problems with a rearview camera on a Jag I owned. Looking at the trunk lid, I can see two rubber conduits running into the left/right side body work just below the rear glass but I highly doubt the glass would need to come out and I suspect the wiring runs behind the back "seats". Just be interesting to know the truth of the matter.
