Bringing 2021 lc for oil and filter change in Oct. Wondering if I should have brake fluid changed. Car only has 5000 miles on it but I usually change brake fluid every 2 years. I take the car out at least once a week year-round so it doesn't sit idle. Also, have been changing oil every 6 months with regular oil and thinking of switching to synthetic oil and changing once a year. I know there are a lot of opinions about that but I figured I'd ask for a few more. On a side note the oil and filter change only costs $90 at my lexus dealor alot cheaper to maintain then my 911.
can't imagine a break fluid change is needed.
i got my first oil change recently and they put synthetic in. i'm fine with that.
if you're only driving 5k a year for example, i think once a year change with any oil is fine.
oil has basically become a religious issue.
how come so cheap for you guys. i just did my first oil change (threw out the break in oil) at 1800km and it cost me 300 bucks canadian. lousy dealers are expensive around here.
just put in oem 5w30 conventional. will change her again at 8000km (basically next year).
Brake fluid is not a mileage thing it's a time and climate thing. Brake fluid is hygroscopic meaning it absorbs fluid when exposed to air. The main enemy of brake fluid is moisture and this can be absorbed through brake lines or the brake fluid reservoir even when the vehicle is not driven. So if in a moist or muggy climate more frequent fluid changes than if in a dry climate.
I'm in Arizona so I will change at five years. When I change I switch the bleeders to Earl's Solo Bleeders:

Lou - I agree with your advice for brake fluid changes based on time and climate (humidity) with the one exception that I need to note. DOT3 and DOT4 and DOT5.1 brake fluids ARE hygroscopic whereas the new DOT5 Silicone brake fluids ARE NOT hygroscopic. DOT5 silicone brake fluid is not ABS compatible though.
I had my brake fluid changed at 30,000 miles - 4 years - and made certain they replaced the fluid with DOT5.1 While it is still hygroscopic it is much less so and I probably will not need to change brake fluid now for the remainder of my LC's life. Dry climate here in New Mexico as well.

Some while ago I bought a brake/clutch fluid tester which measures the water in oil. Currently, the LC still shows 0% water, whereas our older Honda is indicating 1%. This gizmo was as cheap as chips to buy, and the fact is indicates a difference between the cars is kind of giving it some credibility.
BTW, Badhobz, mines just had an oil service and the oil alone was 160 CAD. Total bill less other requests was 540 CAD. Hope that makes you feel a little better.

Yikes. No wonder there are so few LCs in Europe and the UK. If people are spending that kind of money they would rather buy something with more Brand prestige
