Looking at those European numbers I’m amazed…. How can it sell THAT poorly in Europe ?
Have you looked at the Canadian sales numbers? There were a total of 137 LC500s sold in 2020 and 193 sold in 2021.So far only 80 have been sold in 2022 up until the end of April.
2019 was the worst sales year with only 74 units moved.
in vancouver i think ive only seen like 2.... a white coupe w/ gold rims, and a infrared one with that toasted carmel. its crazy.. this city is full of nice cars, but ive never seen our LC's around.
In US all three models, LC500h, LC500 coupe and cabrio, are all pretty much same price within something like $20-30k even with all possible options. Fuel is (relatively) cheap and there is no $1k yearly CO2 related road tax so savings h can give are no big deal. In some European countries which have high CO2 and/or value based registration taxes h can be half the price compared to cabrio and even basic no options at all h is 50% more expensive than in US. In Netherlands h is something like $140k and cabrio $220k while LC500 is in between. Portugal and Spain are about same and they mostly sell h there if they sell anything all. France and Italy same even though their registration tax isn't that big. Then there are countries like Finland and Denmark where no options at all basic h is listed at $170k+ and V8 models are not even listed because no one would buy them at $220-250k. Want stylish coupe. Jaguar F-Type has four cylinder available starting from $110-120k and BMW has M850i at same price. $50k saving really does make buyer think is LC the model one wants. In some countries like Germany and Sweden where there is only 19-25% VAT added in tax free price V8 sells better than h but $9/gallon fuel and home market brands like BMW and Porsche are so much more in demand that entire European sales can only be very very small number. Same thing in Japan and Asia. Total yearly production must be under 5k. From pure business point of view it doesn't make any sense at all.
I as well have only seen 4 in the wild. I was in Van a couple of months ago and I saw a white LC coupe driving in Richmond by Aberdeen Centre. I as well last summer saw another white coupe with black rims parked at the outlet mall near the airport. Other than that, here on the Island, I have also seen, an Infrared coupe and a white coupe.
