Quote: The service advisor suggested Rust Proof coating and I am in the bay area. Should I get it done?
No - Take a look at the attachment below, you'll see that the body has no steel to rust, except the rear outer fenders. The only steel used is in the frame and bracing and rear fenders and that has an element resistant process done at the factory.

Quote: no... waste of money unless your car is routinely sprayed by salt water.
It was sarcasm on my part. Of course I know better. My point was these Service Advisor will try to upsell you everything under the sun.

The rust proofing is useless without the nitrogen filled tires, VIN sticker package and wheel and tire protection package. You should finance all of those, we can get you low, low monthly payments!

haha. Yep. I have heard it all in the F&I office…….I always decline. BTW, I always asks how much for the car before tax, not how much down and payment per month.

Nah, more like F You Money because we are in the Bay Area, where starter home is $1.3M+ and the bidding war begins. (another sarcasm BTW).

Quote: Yes you can do it yourself or do it elsewhere, but for resale it's nice to show the Carfax showing all of the dealer services. Not sure if that adds value but it should. Probably doesn't matter if you trade it in vs sell it yourself though.
Never sell it

Well I wouldn't go to Downtown SF / Union Square area, total dumpster there. But area around the Golden Gate Bridge, Chase Center (Go Warriors), Fishermen's wharf, Oracle Park (Giants), Presidio aren't not bad. Silicon Valley area (Levi's Stadium) ain't that bad.

Lived here for over 30+ years, bought house and rentals in the last 20 years span. Rents are beyond nuts. Without my help, my kids won't be able to afford it here that's for sure.
Tech money. Google, FB, Amazon, Apple.....are all competing to retain people, sign on bonus, RSU......and you have Zillow / Redfins buying up houses.........
BTW, we don't have space to grow Palm trees, we grow money trees I may retire early and just cash in, move to Sacramento Area.
