Newbie to LC, How can we tell the LC has performance pkg by looking at it exterior? Carbon fiber roof? Or vin?

 

VIN number will listed all the options of the car.

 

cf roof can be had with sport package also, but the perf pkg, now called the dynamic handling pkg, has more features including rear wheel steering, and variable gear ratio front steering (a wonderful combo imo).

i assume the vin would identify exactly what package(s) but i don't know how to 'decode' one.

 

The way to visually tell if it has the performance package (dynamic handling) is by the retractable wing on the rear of the LC. You can also check the vin# on Lexus drivers website.

haha, i'm an anything but a perfectionist, but thanks! i said i was washing around/under it, but mainly i just wanted to get the water mopped up under it after washing the rest of the car.

and by the way, i HATE cleaning cars.

 

Not true, it will denote engine, transmission and some other safety items like airbags, it will tell you the year, the manufacturer, the country is was built in, but will NOT determine option packages or individual options. There are only 17 digits, and 6 of them are the actual serial number. That leaves you only a 11 for everything else, as stated above. Trust me, I worked very closely with VINs including secondary VINs in trying to ID stolen, burned or gray market vehicles.

 

Put the VIN number into driverlexus , it will show all the options that car had.

 

The retractable wing can also be ordered on the bespoke package (based on sports package).

 

i see you're right, but that wasn't on the website configurator before i don't think, but it is now!

 

still, it's pathetic the bespoke can't get the dynamic handling (aka performance) package.

 

That option has been there since late last year, was there when I ordered mine on 8 Dec.

 

You can tell from the exterior by the active rear spoiler and the carbon fiber roof.
