Default New LC Owner

Wanted to say hi, and looking forward to the exchange of interesting and useful information. Just placed my order for a new Infrared/Caramel coupe without PP. Will receive delivery in September or October of this year. First time buying a Lexus. Last purchased vehicle was a Merc (and whilst it has been reliable), I am finding the ongoing maintenance costs prohibitive considering how few miles are on it.. Hoping for better with this new beauty. Very excited about the new arrival.

Congrats, I also came from my a merc and even though I loved the interior. I hate their service dept attitude. I will never buy a merc again. That's my rant hahaha. I'm also expecting mine in Sept October.

Thank you r1lee. It is an exciting time. I was not that familiarized with the car until recently, and was drawn in by the beauty of the body lines of the car. I showed the vehicle pictures to my wife, we watched some videos together and that was it. The following weekend we walked into to the dealership and ordered it. She ultimately chose the color. That being said, I do like the Infrared, but was leaning more towards the Nightfall Mica.
We are going to have it licensed for pleasure, not all purpose use, and drive it all year round in good weather. Not in extremely inclement weather or temperatures near freezing. Not that this happens much on Vancouver Island but we get a dump of snow once every year or two and temperatures can get into the 30's farenheit for short periods. I have been known to be obsessed with previous vehicles that I have owned (Viper SRT10, C63), not even driving them in the rain. I am going to unclench with this car and enjoy it as much as I can, not worrying so much if it is dirty or not looking perfect everyday.

Ah, good for you! I certainly don't obsess about keeping a car spotless. Enjoy the car, look forward to seeing it. Can you say what color/feature combo you ordered?

Thank you Bitkahuna...We ordered a standard Infrared over Caramel coupe without the Performance Package. There were certain portions of this optional package I would have liked on the vehicle such as the LSD and 21 inch rims, but checking the PP box is an additional 13K in Canada. We felt that for the way we will be driving most of the time, it was not necessary, plus we also had a price point we wanted to stay within. Unfortunately both the diff and rims can not be ordered as independent options, as they can be in the United States and perhaps other areas of the world. On the other hand the HUD and upgraded ML stereo are standard features in Canada. The dealer is also going to throw in the paint protection film for the hood and front fenders for no additional cost. I asked for information on 2022 models but they had nothing to offer in regard to this.
Will definitely post some pics once I am able to.

you certainly have endless divine roads to drive your new stellar car on.
yes 13K $C for pp is a lot... in u.s. it's $9k or something, but it's really not since almost everyone doesn't get a base car anyway, so it's $4k more than a sports package i think (obviously not checking here) and that gets not only the lsd, but different shocks i think (i still don't exactly know what they mean when they say 'yamaha damper' lol), but for me, the VGRS / rear steer and the CF roof in the packae sold me... i don't need the fastest car in the world, but i do love great steering / handling and the CF roof is pretty special but not for everyone of course.

but whatever flavor combo of LC anyone gets, they're ALL very special. a truly one of a kind vehicle on the road, there's nothing else like it.

What??? You didn't like paying Merc service $600 for oil changes?

What does the "Paint Protection" consist of? Is that a clear bra? I paid about 2k for my clear bra that covers the entire front and door jams. Hope I didn't overpay.

probably not, but if it's a dealer they may use lower quality film, and if you didn't get ceramic coating on top i recommend it because it makes the car a lot easier to keep clean.

I am uncertain of the manufacturer of the clear bra film. The Lexus site from America says it is a 3M film. In Canada it states, "The Genuine Lexus Pro Series Paint Protection Film is designed for the hood and front fenders and helps guard your vehicle's paint from sand, stones and other road debris that can chip and scratch the finish. Made from transparent thermoplastic urethane, the clear-coated film helps maintain a like-new appearance for your Lexus."......A pretty generic description and unsure of the manufacturer.
I feel that it definitely won't cover as much of the painted surface of the car as was applied to your vehicles though. Especially at the offered price point of $500 CDN. I would expect much less, perhaps the front lower fascia and lower portion of the hood only, but anything that is being offered at no additional cost I am happy to accept.
I have found the sales figures for July 2021 online, and it seems only 13 LCs were sold in Canada (vs 313 in the United States). So far a total of 155 LCs in total have been sold this year in Canada (vs 1888 in the United States). Quite a rare vehicle, which explains why I have never actually seen one driving about.

They were receptive towards negotiating only a small discount but it definitely took some prodding. We started off at MSRP ($103,550) plus $650 for the Infrared paint and $180 for a trunk cargo liner ($104,380 total).
We managed to get $2000 off the cost and paint protection film thrown in (approximately $500 value). So ultimately, we paid $102,380 CDN (Approximately $85,000 US dollars), before delivery and taxes. This is for a factory ordered standard coupe. Might get the tire and rim replacement policy as well but am currently undecided. I am not sure what kind of discount other purchasers have received but it might have been more.

Good job SunCruzin... i doubt anyone's getting a new LC500 for $85K US in the US.
