Hi, New to the forum. Not sure if anyone do their own oil changes. From what I understand Lexus recommends using mineral oil the first 2-3 oil changes so the piston rings can get
seated and som of the internals get broken in properly.
I am planning to do the same and then switch to a high grade synthetic ester oil.

I had the first oil change down by the dealer, since it was free. Do not know what they used. On the first change that I did, I used Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Since I live in a warm climate I use 10W-30. I use a Wix XP oil filter. I used the same products in my ISF
Note - the factory calls for 9.1 quarts. I put in 9.1 quarts let it run, turned it off and the dip stick was low. I tried that a couple more times, adding a bit each time. I ended up using the full 10 quarts.
I did very similar to what Lou states. I let Lexus pay for the first two free oil changes (I confirmed they use a standard 'mineral based' oil) and after that I changed to synthetic as well. I use Mobil 1 Annual Protection Full Synthetic Motor Oil 5W-30.
Read the attached from an article by Greg Acosta from Engine Labs. Very informative and explains the break-in process simply and concisely. Pay special attention the the yellow highlighted statements. I hope this is helpful.

Whats wrong with the mfg's input and sticking with it, 5W-30 conventional oil, every 5K. 10w-30 in the hot spots where flowrider lives. Keep it simple as they say!
I am far from doing my own oil, but certainly like to know how it goes. Checked out an RCF and GSF video, and they both have a cover under the oil filter housing and they look similar. But the LC under side looks a bit different, so could anyone confirm if my marking is correct for the LC (snip from Savage Geese LC review)? Surprisingly I search youtube for LC500 oil change, none show up.
Yes, from the same video - This is the oil filter. Note - The LC has much underbelly coverings and to reach the drain and filter there are access covers. The Savage Geese removed the underbelly coverings for their presentation.

I don't understand this extra .9 quart...

Told 2 different people at Lexus Melbourne about their computer screen possibly stating the wrong oil amount.
It was noted TWICE on my service ticket Do Not Overfill The Oil.
Guess what?
Of course, they did. About 1/2" past the Full line.
Effin Idiots. Tech doing the change has been a tech 15 years.
Called them back, the Service Advisory says he talked to the tech who told him to tell me to Wait a full hour then check it again.
Like Waiting Longer would make that oil Jump Back Up Into The Engine.
Unbelievable.
Oh, and the auto print out of the service they did Does Show 10 quarts of Mobil. They told me a Synth/Reg blend.
PS: The manual key in your fob? You might want to be careful and not lose it. One of my fobs was missing the key when I got it.
Those keys, just the key? $100.

PS; The service guys were not interested At All in installing any radar detector or dash cam writing.

You should go talk with your Lexus dealer. An “understanding” is not good enough. Smh No mineral oil at all. Some engines use conventional and some synthetic. My 2022 uses conventional. Just had it changed at 6 months and 3,000 miles (6 or 5k whichever is first).
