Default Best model year - so far

Interested in a pre-owned LC, wondering which years to avoid and why? Thanks.

Nuttin' Honey.

Those are both really non-issues.

No brake issues other than some owners not being happy about the side-effects of HI-Po brakes. Noise and Dust. And those owners not being able to properly bed in the brakes to eliminate the noise issue. There is a TSB for those owners and Lexus will install lesser performing pads. IMHO, the stock Hi-Po pads are extremely good, on a par with some after-market street performance pads.

The logic in the 2018 LC transmission is a little more "raw" than the later years. Personally I prefer it.

Again, nothing to avoid in any MYs.

Read about transmission overheat issue on this site and watch Matt Farah's video when driving in the mountains. No one else experienced this? Very curious to understand if there is any reason to avoid the 2018. Another YT video mentioned the 2019s have improved transmission shift logic. Any of these ring a bell? Thanks.

Mr. 900revs,
Your question has been asked and answered.

No reason to avoid any of the model years, and yes, we are all aware of the threads you refer to. If you notice the people who gave you the answers were involved in those threads as well.

That's, Mr. 9000Revs to ya , just kidding.

Guess I'll go and drive one first. Just read about excessive brake squeal on another thread.

Better to ask now than find out later

Ooops. I missed one of your zeros.

YES - Go test drive one. You won't be able to get the grin off your face after that. The current condition and the way the previous owner cared for the vehicle is much more important in your decision.

9000revs

I just traded my White 19 in for a IR 21. The 19 was perfect but I wanted Infrared (I had a 15 RCF in IR and just missed the color). It's in Rockville MD at Lexus of Rockville for 81K. Its loaded with performance package. Get a plane ticket I'll pick you up and take you to the dealer.

I have my thoughts on the differences, improvements IMO of the 21 if anyone cares. That said, the 19 was still really good

Ok since you asked...Both are Performance packages...and only 165 miles on the 21 so far

Although I had the brakes done on the 19, the 21 seems more responsive. I do like it. No dust or squeal yet either

The 21 has a slightly better note, startup, Idle and get on it note

The steering is more precise

The car feels lighter, I know they shaved a few pounds, but it feels better. Perhaps the aluminum steering and hollow sway bars would be the reason

I do NOT care for the new display. I dont think its as crisp and the 19. The edges are darker. My GF said it looked more animated. The colors ore more defined though.

The spoiler retracts without a thump. This was normal according to SR (the thump)

Not related, but I negotiated the last day of the month and at last hour to get a good deal. If anyones in the market PM me I can share some details. I got the 3K at the end too.

Im fairly certain I had Dunlops on the 19, the 21 has Bridgestones. The 19 had a little less road noise. I really wanted Michelins.

Interior the same, black. The rubber mats not worth it as I dont drive it in bad weather.

It also has the carbon fiber grill insert. Looks good but $1200 good, probably not.

If I notice anything alas I'l share it along

I agree. I had much of mine wrapped (grill, top spears, top of tail lights and rear splitter) and paid $400.
