Default Help Plan my custom Touches

Thanks to all you guys talking about the ragtop, its been very helpful. When I hit the shores of the wonderful USA in the spring, there is going to be an LC waiting for me (prob a conver) and off its going to go immediately for the goodies.

I am going to use the car as my semi home for a few months until I get back overseas in a normal travel environment, which means for the first time in many yeaars, Im going to cruise the highways and byways of the USA. Ill be mostly out West in the summer. So it will be hot I reckon.

So these are the questions I have if anyone could chime in.

1. Clear wrap: what is the best brand these days, by this I mean the thicker more resilient stuff, not just a colour change, the stone chip proteecting stuff.

2. Wheels/Tires: I have been lusting over a few models made by Vorsteiner, Vossen and HRE. HREs of course are stupid expensive but is there a practial difference in quality? Im not racing, Im a creaky fat old stoner who is gonna cruise the back roads blasting my 700 song playlist. You guys out west know how straight the roads are... I like a little bit more aggressive stance, so would someone have a tire wheel size combo they could reccomend other than factory size that would give me more manly snarling looks whilst preserving the fatass ride.? I can envision on occasion an 8 hour drive day.

3. I will be tinting the windows desert dark. Has anyone set up a rear dash cam to act as a rear view mirror? I would like to set up an auxiliary monitor for the dash cams but havent been able to figure out where the monitor would go? Any ideas or recs as to dash cams? Plus I would like to have a front parking cam, I think there is a blank button near the fuel door release.

4. Radar etc. I have been told that the built in 360 Kd40 (is it?) with 4 jammers is the way to go? Thoughts?

5. Does anyone have a fav customizer for the above work?

Am I missing anyhting? I look forward to some responses Im relying on this Board a lot for ideas

^^^^Stock wheels are 8½ & 9½ front to rear. Stock rear tires are 275/35/21. 285/35/21 is a hard size to find. I'm running 255/40/21 and 295/35/21 PS4S on 9½ and 10½.

hi lou
zeepak may want to tune in to the thread, "lc500 as a daily driver" hereabouts for more advice.
zeepak and the rest of us may want to know, since you change your own
oil, what is the frequency and do you know how much you consume between changes?
i'm at 28K and seemed to have used about 1/2 qrt since 25K.
also, great tip on the custom driving mode (comfy susp + snarl up front)
and what do you make of the AI in the trans? mine seems quite interactive
and i wondered want you think of yours in terms of responsiveness...

For wheels: For your purposes, all three of the brands that you mention should be fine. I would go with factory sized 21s but lower offset. Better to push the wheels out for a nice aggressive stance than go with a bigger wheel and smaller sidewall.

The wheels on this car are 21x9 +10 front, 21x10 +10 rear with factory 245/40/21 and 285/35/21 tires.

You might want to lower the car a hair as well. I would suggest using springs instead of a fully adjustable coilover. Lexus spent a LOT of time calibrating the dampers on this car; aftermarket coilover manufacturers just throw an off the shelf adjustable shock in a housing that will bolt up to your car.
If I lower it, I wont be able to get out of it without a lot of grunting and jiggling. Thats why Im leaning to the convertible. Push the seat back and stand up

i keep mine stock, so i wont comment on mods other than to encourage you to drive one a while before
deciding what to mod
actually, my window guy recommended against tinting as he said tinting would interfere
with the fancy factory coating (my entire front windshield is glare-proof at night , for example)
so i would recommend thinking carefully about tints...

All my windows are tinted with the darkest allowable in Arizona. My windshield is also tinted with a UV film that really works In our heat you really do not want to drive around with naked windows

The vehicle will be registered in Montana, they have good tint laws, 24% IIRC.
I wont drive a vehicle at my age without heavy tint.
