The problem with states requiring the front license plate is the dealerships would have drilled the holes for the front plate holder before selling the vehicles to us. To avoid damaging the beautiful grille, one would have to buy the vehicles from states not requiring front plate; then find a different solution to attach your state front plate.
^^^^I bought my LC in Nebraska, a state that requires a front plate. The dealer I bought it from doesn't drill until the car is sold and the buyer requests the front mount. Obviously while I was negotiating over the phone, one of my requirements was to not drill. In my search I also found an LC in Idaho, but that car was already drilled, so that was a no-go once I noticed. My LC did include the mounting bracket in the trunk.
I rode dirty with my IS F, RC F, and now my LC 500 and was only "warned" about it twice while driving the IS F. My tints are totally illegal too, never warned about it though.
The only issue I ever had with a front plate was when I lived in Santa Barbara in the 70s thru the 90s. I Had an SC and I did not run the front plate that was required in California. One weekend I went to the movies and parked in underground parking with the SC facing the wall. When I got out, there was a fix-it ticket under one of my wipers. I cobbled up a phony mount with a magnet and when I went for the inspection, the inspector looked out the window and saw the plate. So, I got away free
Haha! I like the idea of a magnet, or really the link you provided isn't bad either. Here in WA, the cops are too busy checking out the car or something else more important. I've been right behind a cruiser or facing one at an intersection where I was a little nervous, but so far so good. The one time I was warned about it was when I said I needed the bracket due to a new bumper install, so I just put the plate on the windshield and that was fine. A couple people I know put the plate on the passenger visor, but that's technically not legal either.
I live in MD, I'm surprised these idiots don't require plates on the sides as well. The front is required, 4 years with my RCF, no plate, 1 year with the LC, no plate. Windows tinted, no hassle. I guess they profile me and don't want to bother a 59 year old...Watch tomorrow I'll get pulled over

I too reside in Md. but where I'm from Pennsylvania, there is no front tag required. As such I've never added the tag on my Md. vehicles they always seem to detract from a cars pretty face. Never been stopped for it but I do believe being a middle aged man driving sensibly helps.
