I was wondering is the LC500 good for 5-6 hour road trips? I have family that lives in far away, I probably go every month or so to see them. Would be amazing if I can drive a car like LC500 to visit. LC owners, what do you guys think?

 

Assume you are talking interstates Remember the LC is a GT car, and GT should be its middle name I've taken two in mine. I bought may LC in Lincoln Nebraska and drove it home to Arizona. Over Thanksgiving I went to visit relatives in Las Vegas. It's amazing over the road. You can stretch its legs. You can also set the drive mode and change the characteristics of the engine or suspension or both. Yes, it's made for the open road

Absolutely! I've done about 8 four hour trips and I can confidently recommend the LC for road trips! Almost feels like a sedan

Only down sides is the limited trunk space and weird radar system that brakes miles away from the cars in front of you

I have the sport seats btw and they were comfy enough for such long trip

Did the weird braking happen to you too?
It happen to e on a twisted road where someone was doing a turnaround and the radar thought we were crashing but we were not.
It was surprising when the brakes were applied for no reason.

I drive my car on road trips 95% of the time.
Maybe 300 mile trips where I take out into country roads.
That's when you can open it up and clear the carbon out of the pistons...

Thats my plan! It would make the road trip a lot more enjoyable!

 

I went on several 10+ hours drives with my LC and felt almost no driver's fatigue, like spending a day on my couch.

 

The car is a joy to drive !

 

You can adjust the radar system to three different levels of sensitivity to the cars in front of you. The control is on the steering wheel. Easy to change.

 

That might be different. i.e. distance from the car you are following on adaptive cruise vs pre-collision sensitivity.

 

Pick up some track tape. Will help with rock chips and bugs. I did some crayon runs a few weeks back and I'm glad I bought some.

It probably uses the same sensor but it may be a different logic loop with no sensitivity adjustment.
I wonder if you turn off all the nannies if the pre-collision system is turned off too...
Man, when I am on the twisties, I don't need this crap turning on inadvertently.

It's just tape you apply to the front of the car when you go for road trips or on a track day. It is easy to take off. You can also get a temporary PPF film that you can apply for road trips as well.
