Just to add. I don't have a radar detector, but my dash cam is wired to the mirror

Just be careful to protect the cables with electrical tape from short circuit when the cables are bunched up under the cover.
I have an Uniden R3 and its been a nice detector. They have really reduced the false alarms making them more effective.
Good luck!

But ,when I tried it along side the Valentine V1 in my Landcruiser, the range performance was abysmal by comparison. So, after talking to the Escort folks, they offered to take back the Solo and sell me the 360C for 2.5 times the money. They, of course, claim that it outperforms the V1 in every respect. It certainly seems to have more of the latest and greatest technology that is missing in the V1. I will post up results after I try it next to the V1 in the Landcruiser. I had a V1 in my 2010 ZR1 for nine years and it paid for itself a hundred times over. Never got even close to a speeding ticket.
One other question on the install, were you able to route the mirror tap wire cleanly out from under the plug cover?
Thanks again for the great post!
Hello,

See response below...I mistakenly posted it under someone else's post... I blame my computer or the keyboard...

Are you using the same wires I use for the radar detector?

Puertex, you made it easy. The caps popped off easily and the mirror taps plugged into the ports that you suggested and powered up the Escort without a hitch. And, as you said, there was just enough room under the covers to route the cable out the rear cutout. I was going to use a permanent "screw on mirror mount" but it put the detector right in my line of vision so I opted to use the suction cup mount that came with the 360 and mount it up and to the right of the mirror. The mirror tap cord is just long enough.
Thanks again!

Puertex is correct on the wire selection. I just completed the install on a 2021 LC500 Convertible.

The pink w/blue stripe wire on the far left edge (in the corner) is the switched hot and the pink next to it is the ground. Use the larger of the mirror tap (or similar) blades to tap the box - the small blades are too small and will fall out. The pink with blue stripe wire is switched to the full "on" and not the accessory "on".

The plastic cover behind the mirror slides up and down a bit so just move it around and you can get one edge off the track pretty easily. Once you have one edge off you can start working the other edge and take the whole piece off. Once removed you'll see this white plug. Easiest mirror tap ever.

Thank you for posting the pics. I want to attempt a self install of a dash cam. I've never used a mirror tap.

So there's a kit you can purchase? Do you have one I may reference?
So this makes the wiring all local and no need to route to a fuse box?

Thank You.

Just google "mirror tap" or "invisicord" - there are a bunch out there on Amazon. This is what I used purchased from Amazon.

I used the Mirror Mount Radar tap - works great

I also used Blended Mount to hang on the Mirror - went with a 1 inch extension to get it closer to the windshield - it works great - almost 1 year since I mounted it. I bought my 23’ LC on 12/19/22 - Mounted the radar on 12/21/22
