Default Trunk Pull-Down Handle

Thank you Lexus for providing an inside trunk pull-down handle so that I don't have to touch the painted surface while closing the trunk. Now, please turn it around so it makes sense.

Every other car I've ever owned with such a handle has the handle faced the other way so you can grab it in an underarm position so that you can get your arm out of the way as the trunk is closing. This is just stupid, IMHO.

I've only owned vehicles with power hatchbacks for the last too many years, so the handle seems fine to me. My first reaction was - "Why isn't this trunk lid power-operated?!?!"

I only wear white silk gloves while driving my LC so it isn't an issue for me - LOL

Quoted for emphasis, especially on a $100K car.

That reminds me of this video (which I've posted before in a thread about TRD body parts) - of a typical dealership in Japan. Love the white gloves...

Right?!?! Then again, it may very well have been an intentional weight-savings decision to forego a power trunk. She is a bit on the heavy side.

donaldp,

I agree - that "PUSHdown" seems in a reverse position. They probably did tests that showed people are more likely to close it on their hand if it was in the "PULLdown" rather than "PUSHdown." The C6 Corvette had a similar deal and GM changed the position/configuration over the years.
