Default STOP Sale

Hello-

I am new here but have been interested in the LC 500. I have an LX 570 and was looking at trading in my 911 for an LC. I just went to the dealership to look today and while working on a deal was told that an email had just been sent out informing dealers of a stop sale due to recall that won’t be fixed until APRIL. Very surprising to hear in the middle of a deal. All LC 500s on the ground cannot be delivered until this fix I was told. I suspect it is the fuel pump issue mentioned in the other thread. Dealer did not know exact issue.

I’m currently negotiating with a few dealers and they haven’t said anything yet.

I found it quite strange. Maybe was misinterpreted by my salesperson and/or manager, but at the time he was pretty sure that they could not deliver any. I told him to definitely let me know if anything changes but have not heard anything. I haven’t spoken to any other dealers yet either.

Here is what the assistant service manager said at my dealership...We as a dealer are not able to retail any new car that has an outstanding safety campaign on it. It is more of just a precautionary measure.

I called my dealer spoke with my my salesman and also called Lexus direct (800) 255-3987 and was told that the recall notice was a preemptive measure and that not all or even the majority of LC500 were at risk of a fuel pump leak/failure. It's merely a precautionary move for Toyota to cover their butts. I have a 2018 LC500 with 4400 miles on mine that has intakes and a cat-back exhaust running 93 premium octane. 100 octane race fuel and 91 premium unleaded mixed, this will obviously make the the stock pumps work a little harder to match the incoming volume of air with the new mods. I have not had any issues nor have I had any CEL/codes come on knock on wood or scratch alcantara LOL. I will change the pumps once Lexus dealers have the revised ones in stock which according to Lexus will be around April 2018 for peace of mind.

Our local lot has 6 or 7 LS's and one GS F. I guess they can sell these cars right now, but they won't be leaving the lot until April or May according to this. Seems like a problem since it involves close to a million dollars of inventory. Maybe that's not so much for them, though.

I think it's a fire hazard, leaking fuel from the high pressure fuel pumps...
