Is It True?
I have read a few things that have stated that the Rev Limiter is set to 7,000 off of the show room floor. However, that after engine break-in you can have the dealer update the Rev Limiter to 7,300rpm. Is this true, or are folks sharing incorrect facts?
my dealer told me there is no break in period, i drive the car however i want. when the car is cold the rev limiter is around 5800 and as it warms up it gradually increases and allows you to rev to 7300.
Common sense notwithstanding, from the manual...
■ Breaking in your new Lexus
To extend the life of the vehicle, observing the following precautions is recommended:
● For the first 186 miles (300 km):
• Avoid sudden stops.
● For the first 621 miles (1000 km):
• Do not drive at extremely high speeds.
• Avoid sudden acceleration.
• Do not drive continuously in low gears.
• Do not drive at a constant speed for extended periods.

Yes, I was one of the people who said this. The tachometer has a faded red line between 7,000 and 7,300 rpm after warm up. I've tried really hard to watch when it red lines, and it looks a lot like it's stopping at 7,000 rpm to me. However I have to quickly watch the road again so it's hard to get a good look. I may have to record it to confirm for sure.
