I've actually grown to like it. Low and wide. It looks like a somewhat futuristic Japanese muscle car. The Aston Martin Valour does that well also in its own way. It's not for everyone but has a unique look.
It will be interesting to see how this melds into the Lexus brand (if true they will sell it in select Lexus Dealerships). The lines are further blurring between Lexus and Toyota, maybe at some point the Lexus brand just goes away. Not sure what direction or marketing group they want Lexus to serve in the future. EV, Hybrids etc, appreciate the choices but they are not for me. For me, EV is like the difference between the Apple Watch and a a quality mechanical watch, the mechanical watch has more “soul”.
Toyota is no longer the most valuable company in Japan, they’ve been overtaken by SoftBank. And they can’t blame everything on Oil prices.
I dont think its any more phallic than the LC 500. It is, however, too busy/overstyled. Cleaning that rear end would be my nightmare. I love the LCs clean, flowing lines. This is the antithesis of the LC styling wise as far as sports cars go.
This is a function over form car for sure, very different approach to design.
It seems like Porsche has been able to make function focused cars that still look awesome. GT3RS comes to mind.
Maybe it is an issue with keeping it front-mid-engine instead of rear mid... not a car engineer. But it sure seems like it could be at least a tad more sculpted. Like molding that vent on the front fender aft of the wheel well so it doesnt look like a straight up box/vertical line.
I saw it at the “Roar of Angels” LFA owners event back in March 2025 at the Calty design center in Newport Beach. All the LFA owners I chatted with did not really like the styling. It will be a great car to drive though, no doubt about it. Just not too pretty….
