Default Serious question?

Have any potential buyers having any second thoughts about consummating a deal right now with the potential fallout of world events? I certainly feel like laying low for a bit even as a few more buying opportunities are coming up. Seems like a few folks that had orders are changing their minds. I have had three opportunities in the last couple weeks. Thoughts?

With all due respect, if you’re worried about world event that is out of your control to buy something like this, you shouldn’t buy it.
To me, these are toys and a luxury. If you don’t have the disposable income to afford it, you shouldn’t.
There’s a lot of things that are out of your control but you always can control what you can and cannot afford.

I'm sure there are people who sit on the edge of affordability for this car who are asking the same question. For those people, its a valid question. The problem is, although its a big purchase, its not like a house in the sense that there are always houses to buy even if you have to take a pass on the one you're looking at now. There won't be any more LC 500s other than the used market whenever they come up.

If world events have the potential to hurt your income or employment then pulling the trigger on this car is a tough choice. My suggestion would be to do some serious financial analysis on your income and expenses, determine the threshold for where this car would cause issues for you if purchased, then think about how likely it is that your personal finances reach below that level.

Nick is on the money here. If this could make you financially unstable you shouldn't be making a purchase of a "TOY". If things are going to get bad enough that we are all in the crapper overnight, it doesn't matter what you have. Rich or Poor we are all going to be fighting to survive. In that case buy the car and ride it out. YOLO. Other than a handful of cars, they are depreciating assets.

Maybe it’s not only financial related (cost, gas, insurance, jobs etc) but a culmination of everything that’s going on with a negative perspective. Personally, if I thought Humanity was in its final days, I’d be spending everything I had for my last bit of enjoyment.

My perception of what’s changed is the 24/7 information overload that we are bombarded with and some being stuck in an Echo chamber.

You have to be real cautious about this thought. Lol
The world isn't going to end tomorrow or a set date. And nobody knows what's their expiration date is. Life would be easy if we know when our last day is going to be.
The truth is, the people with more money saved up and more money to begin will be in better shape when the economy crashed and will come out even more wealthier. If someone is already struggling from day to day or just making ends meet and spent all his saving to get this toy, it's going to be some stressful time ahead if/when the economy crash.
The different between wealthy people and broke people is that they know when to buy(when the broke people forced to sell their stuff at cheap prices).
Okay, I'm starting to preach....I'll stop now.

Interesting perspective as 2026 is the LC500's swan song. Reminds me of Alfred, Lord Tennyson when he
suggested that experience of love and deep connection, despite the pain of loss, is more valuable than never experiencing it at all. On the other hand as others have already implied, it is simply a toy at the end of the day. Make smart and calculated decisions.

Watch this clip from Warren Buffett about when to be fearful and when to be greedy:

If your hope is that a more desirable LC500 than whichever one currently has your name on it is will come along, there's a very good chance that it won't. And if it does, there's a very good chance that someone else will get it before you do.

Based on previous years, Lexus is probably going to build about 1300 of these cars for MY2026. They've already built and sold more than half of those. The secret is out on buying cars like this, everybody who thought they could "wait until the final year then order a bespoke" was caught flat footed when the announcement about the end of production came, then they all rushed to get their bespokes and most of them aren't getting them. And if you can find a dealer selling a car without a markup, good luck. The "Final Edition" that we all thought would come the final year also doesn't appear to be happening, so the guaranteed markups that would have happened on those cars will come on most of the LC500s for the rest of the run.

If things going bad means you won't be able to afford to buy it, then, honestly, you can't afford it now. If you're just worried but you can still afford it, then follow Warren's advice above.

Say more about the "three opportunities" and reluctance to accept them. Flushing money is no ones shame.

Never mind. I signed the papers for one of the last new IS 500 anywhere in the country today. I'm thrilled!!! This car replaces my rusted out one year old 500 that the dealer bought back from me. Pity the dummy that lands up with it...

I've never had second thoughts about consummating anything.
