Lexus Maintenance Plan - Good Idea?
Last week I purchased my new 2026 LC and as anyone who has been through the experience knows, the last stop is to sit across from the guy who tries to upsell additional warranties, protections, and maintenance packages. I said no to all with the exception of 5-yr Pre-Paid Maintenance that I'm beginning to question and can still cancel if I choose to. The short version is that by pre-paying $3,900 at the time of sale it covered all scheduled maintenance services through year 5. Knowing that the first year is already covered under the purchase that adds (9) more services (miles 10-50k every 5k). The website describes what is included in each service with the most significant item being oil changes but there are a lot of other items that simply "inspect" things like tires, wiper blades, fluids, and even floor mats. The actual materials seem to be limited to oil/filters/fluids. They claim the pre-payment at what comes out to $433/visit is a 25% discount compared to paying individually as you go.
My questions for the group are:
My questions for the group are:
- Is it too simple to look at these as overpriced, glorified oil changes or is there more to it?
- Does $400+ per visit seem in line with what you guys are paying for services at a Lexus Dealership?
- If I maintain the car myself or have an independent shop do the work does that affect warranty?
- Would you keep or cancel this added coverage?
And no, doing your own maintenance doesnt affect the warranty, but its good to keep receipts (make copies bc the store receipts fade) for oil changes and anything else you do. I plan in keeping a folder with all my maintenance history.

I can't seem to get out of the Service department under $200-300 for any of my vehicles (NX and previous vehicles, the RX is still under the LCPO program).
We were given the Lexus Platinum maintenance program for the LX since on delivery the massage seats did not work and it required a day extra stay. We added the tire coverage to the LX ($2100) since it's the wife's vehicle and she loves curbs. The GX we prepaid the maintenance ($1960) and also added the windshield coverage ($1640).
I did not do the maintenance package for the LC, just the Tire/Wheel protection ($1800). Why not the maintenance? We got a nearly 20K reduction off MSRP so I figured that into any future maintenance costs. Last service visit was $288.93. This would have been only around $180 without the other BS (batteries, conditioners, ethanol).
I know some here do their own maintenance, use other providers or Decline Dealership extras deemed superfluous thus saving some costs.

sound$ pricey to me. My 24 just turned 10K miles. The first 5K oil change was free and the 2nd I just did myself for $50 for 2 gallons oil and $10 for a filter. When I bought car new dealer was trying to get $1000 for "lifetime" oil changes. I declined.
If its a daily driver then maybe. Still seems expensive though. If its a pleasure car with minimal driving then definitely no. However, if there's a tire/rim protection plan I'd consider it. I had a sidewall puncture at 8k km on the car that cost me a fortune. Those tires and wheels are crazy expensive.

I turned down the 1st free oil change because I don't want my car at the dealership unless I have to for something under warranty. I use an independent (who was a former master mechanic at my dealership) and he honored my first free oil change anyway. My last oil change and inspection was $114. I don't trust dealerships for much of anything except trying to take my money. I certainly don't believe they have my best interest when making maintenance decisions and I don't really trust all of their mechanics to properly do routine maintenance. Just one old fart's opinion.
When ya go for the scheduled maintenance they sell you a bunch of "recommended" crap beginning with cabin air filters.
I always ask after they give me the $1200 estimate "what needs done to comply with all my warranties" the next thing ya know its $89-$199 dollars.

After a couple calls I was able to get it cancelled without issue and a full refund without any fees. I read through what is recommended at each service interval and saw the word "inspect" many times but not necessarily doing anything about the inspection items themselves. When I got to the 10,000 / 1yr service description they actually list "Check Installation Of Driver's Floor Mat" as one of the inspection items. I just shook my head.
