Caught an older LC video describing how to remote start the LC with the remote. I just checked the owners manual and nothing mentioned. I have the app where I can use my phone but never knew about this. I tried it and it works. I don't know if you need the paid app subscription service or not, but I'm thinking maybe not.

I did not have time to watch video posted. But yes the key fob will remote start. Press the "lock" icon twice more or less rapidly and after hold down until flashing marker lights.

 

Yeah, I tried using the app with mine yesterday, but all it did was unlock the car instead. Really helpful. So I used the remote instead. Unfortunately, I pressed the wrong button and absent-mindedly opened the windows. Which wouldn't be a big deal if I were in Florida, but I was in chilly Maryland, and a load of snow fell into the interior!

But yes, the remote works well, if you engage brain first.

 

If I recall, doesn’t the car turn itself off when you get in after a remote start? Seemed kinda silly to me

 

Yep. Isn’t that how most cars are with OEM remote start?

 

Yes, LC 500 engine will stop when you start it with the remote or the app. as soon as you open any door or the trunk the engine shuts off

 

Newer Toyotas actually stay on when you open the door.
