Default Super Frustrating LC500 build

Back in February I ordered a USB, Caramel interior, black soft top through a Lexus dealer in Georgia. You would think that would be simple because I ordered it right from the Lexus web site. (their options).
The dealer told me 4 months. May 17th the factory approved the build. Two weeks later they cancels the build . The Lexus dealer can't tell me why. Six months waisted. Now I’m looking at a USB, black interior, black top.
Not sure how long this is going to take. I didn’t really want a black interior, I was sold on the looks of the Caramel. I didn’t want a tan top, thought the black looked better. I am getting ready to walk away. Has anyone ran into these issues while ordering?

Unfortunately lots of people have. Lexus does not make this process easy nor do they execute it well at the dealer level. It's super unfortunate but is the reality from what lots of people have noted.

Unfortunately you aren’t alone with this complaint. A superb car that is marred by the Lexus new car ordering process. Have you check the online listings (Autotrader, Cars.com etc.) of new LC 500 to see what’s available to your liking?

"Unfortunately lots of people have. Lexus does not make this process easy nor do they execute it well at the dealer level...."

I ordered a 2025 LC500 from the dealer on Jan 16 and the factory did NOT accept the build at the end of Jan, Feb or March. And because of so many of these bad experiences, I wound up buying a new 2024 LC500 for a pretty decent discount. Wasn't the color I wanted but had most of the features I wanted so I'm glad I bought it when I did. Keep looking as it is definitely worth it.

I am afraid that is going to be my direction soon. I will give one or two more months with the dealer while looking for a 24-25 used one. Dealer said they should be able to find one close to what I want soon. We’ll see. I may have to switch to a different exterior color.

Smart strategy. The good news is that unless you are dead set on only 1 specific color, the LC 500 looks great in a multitude of different colors.
Good luck.

You may never have to work so hard to spend so much money to get close to what you want. Were I you, I'd build your LC on the lexus.com site. Then do a vehicle search (only lets you go 500 mi from the zip code you give). If you can't get close to expectations go back to dealer with your build and ask salesperson to search. Do this in person while you are getting hits on different units with no deposit already paid. They can go out many miles further. Seems like mine did a 2000-3000 mile search. Extreme but it yielded good intel. Be prepared to accept some compromise on wants, but don't settle on the major ones important to you. Also, if you find something that really connects, even if not 100%, and it can be covered-transport hauled to your dealer for tolerable cost in your eyes, even $2500+, think about the years of enjoyment this might buy vs. looking at a compromise every morning.

Edit: I didn't make clear, find one already in-stock or allocated rather than bespoke or special order.

I had similar issue, I know it was Lexus and not dealer. I went through the whole ordering process three months ago, as I figured I want get one of these before you can't as I am huge Lexus fan for many years. I had even ordered GSF, this way prior and no issues and had the car within 4 months. Well with LC they accepted the order, but then when came to production date it never populated on dealer status tracker, not even creating temp production vin. That went on then eventually, the dealer called regions rep and said they cancelled all remaining custom orders for this year end anymore and would be strictly allocation only base. Then I lost interest a bit, but I really think it definitely car to own and it may get value of LSF one day.

May I ask around what month/week did your dealership find out from the regional rep that they cancelled all remaining special orders? This would be in keeping with the ongoing speculation that the 2026 MY (if it ever comes to the NA market) will be a special limited low production Pinnacle-like build.

I started in April, gave the inventory girl complete build to place order, In past with GSF they advised even though you select the options etc they can vary so I was well aware of that going into it. Then they had production date shown it was like May 6 or something, but then nothing updated at all in that daily dealer tracker. Which still didn't set off alarms yet, however I was at dealership a lot as I was leasing RX/NX and I kept pressing. Then finally they got Eastern region rep and they advised even though accepted that basically production was only set to allocation. Which for my area was mostly convertible builds which I don't want. I would say that was early June. To be honest now I lost urge, however I know it I am going kick myself down road. I started to look at ZR1s but here in Northeast for 2026 anywhere from 75K to 200K over MSRP. Crazy I get GT3 if I am going pay that much over MSRP. However the Z6 if your interested are going under MSRP. I just need find space right now garage and driveway tight, so will wait to my daughter goes back to college.

Think this one is still there, at least was last Tuesday when we picked up the LX. It's a Bespoke package; https://www.lexusoflakeside.com/auto...-mi/106379722/

This tread is getting old and long but internal factory auctions of press and executive fleet cars are common. One of the Jag dealers here in Dallas would buy a slug of 5 or 6 cars at a time and sell them as CPOs. In fact, I bought one in 2016 and still have it - I have not had any problems with it. My carfax report's first entry is "Auto Auction" then goes on to show sold as CPO and titled for the first time.

In short, those cars shouldn't scare you off.
