I'm on the prowl for All Season tires since my current Summer Michelin are done for and made winter driving quite problematic. I thought I'd add my research for others sake as well.
So getting into it, my options appear to
- Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 Plus
- Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4
My current tires from the factory are
Rear: 275/35RF21 99Y
Front: 245/40RF21 96Y
For Continental Extreme, I can get 275/35 R21 for rears, I can only get 245/35 R21 for fronts though. I can get that for $1620.
For Michelin Pilot Sport, I can get a 275/35Z R21 rears but front only 245/35Z R21/XL 96Y or 245/45Z R21/XL 104Y are available. Discount Tire is showing that subtotal for $2110.
I guess the question is, are we alright with decreasing the ratio on the front tires? Or should I up the width? I went in purpose to DT, and the tire widths they gave me seemed pretty off.
There are Michelin Primacy Tour A/S which are being sold in my exact current spec for about $1300.
I'll start out by saying I do not have an LC, but I have the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s on my IS350 for a little over a year before I had enough and actually replaced them early. First and foremost, the road noise. It was immediately noticeable the moment I drove out of the tire shop. It was awful, and sadly it only got worse as the tires wore down. It genuinely made me hate driving my car. As for the driving dynamics.... hated it as well. My car would turn into jelly with the smallest imperfection in the road, even something as small as the painted road stripes. It could not stay composed. It was almost as though the sidewall was too soft. Now for the pros..... a MEAN looking sidewall, if looks are important to you, and I will also admit I never accidentally lost grip even in the monsoon that is South Florida. I drive very spirited, and my experience may not reflect yours, but at least on my IS it made me swear to never get another Michelin tire. I switched back to the Yokohama Advan Apex V601s and couldn't be happier. Yes they last me less being a summer tire, but the Michelin's didn't last me all that much more, and they cost more. That is just my 2 cents.

I appreciate your feedback via personal experience. I have to say that the impressions from LC 500 owners using the Michelin All Season Pilot tires has been overwhelmingly positive.
^^^^The 295/35/21 is not recommended by manufacturers for the LC because it is too wide for the stock wheel. However, some folks on this forum have chosen to run the 295s. I am running 255/40/21 & 295/35/21 on wider aftermarket wheels. 285/35/21 is the widest width tire manufacturers recommend for the stock 9½" wheel.
