Yes. The dealership called me today. Since my color Iridium is rare, there isn't a single part in the country. It would take almost a month to order it from the factory in Japan. The dealership ordered a white one, then they're sending it to their body shop to remove the paint and repaint it to Iridium. Curing time, Installation etc. will take about a week.

Oh wow. I bet there’s a way to swap out the painted part, but the dealership probably wouldn’t know exactly how to do it. I know they have to send defective parts back to Lexus, but it might be worth asking if they would at least try to remove that piece and let you keep it in case you ever need it later.

Too many hoops to jump through and I seriously doubt they would do that anyway. They inspected my car and recommended new tires due to some dry rot on the edges. I'm actually impressed that they sent me a video under the car showing me the tires issues and also how they checked the suspension to ensure everything was ok after a long road trip I recently made. Very detailed. I have the original Michelin Run Flats that came with the car, and they want $3200 for all 4 tires mounted with an alignment Yikes! I still have plenty of tread on them so I'm holding off until I have to change them. I'll probably move away from run flats all together. I feel like the rides always a bit rough.

Tons of anecdotal evidence to support that. It seems every LC 500 owner who’ve switched over to non run flat tires reports improved ride quality and less tire/ surface noise.

Good move, getaway from the RF's and the dealership. Chk tire rack for reference pricing and tire comparison.

FYI....I picked up my car today and I was told that they were able remove the Iridium painted handle on my broken door handle and place it on the new part. No need to send it to be painted like they originally told me. Good info to know in case someone here decides to fix the issue themselves. At least they know they don't have to order the exact painted spec to match their car. They can just swap painted handles apparently.

IMO a better solution is to get it CNCed from aluminum, the only problem then is whatever will end up taking over the top spot as the weakest link in the assembly.
If someone does send me one, when disassembling please see if the recess can be left off so that that area becomes a flat surface. It'll be much less expensive to CNC without it.

After replacing my own handle yesterday, I can assure that this recess is only for manufacturing purpose (injection molding - there are some restrictions on thickness for certain plastics to work well).
The main issue here is that only this gear cannot be easily removed as it has the lever on the opposite side (the one that moves the handle). Tried pliers to push the rod out, pushing, shouting, negotiating and even small hammer... nope, it does no go anywhere.. other 2 wheel could be re-made, the middle cog is easy, the first gray one that links to motor is a two (and a half) piece, but still reproducible.
This quarter wheel is the main problem - if hardly removable, how would we replace it

And for the door disassembly - two man job for sure. No need to balance the inner carbon core on a chair - in front there is a white clip on the outer side that when undone enables the whole harness to be pushed through some holes and out so you can move the carbon core with window out and lay flat somewhere. I'll try to "annotate" some of my pictures and post it here later

Are all years door handle units the same? I have a 2020 and the passenger, right is starting to make an aaaa sound at the end of recessing in, not when it actually locks? It sounds fine going in but just at the end when it stops do I hear the noise. I assume it’s going bad. No noise going out or unlocking thu? As I have read through this thread I’m hoping I can buy any year and swap out my current color handle to new part?
1. are all handle mechanism the same?
2 if so are all able to swap out the handle color?
Thank you for any information.

Technically there are two product numbers (if you strip the color code), I currently have newer code handle instead of older in my car. So handles should be the same through years.

And yes, you can swap the colored handle by unclipping rubber gasket around the handle, removing the hinge pin and unscrewing the weight with inner light (because rerouting it's cable takes more effort). Then in reverse with original colored handle. 😉

One possibility (not having the gear in front of me) would be to heat that metal pin and push it out. When the new 3D part is designed you design it small enough to heat press into the new part. I've done this on pump motor impellas and it works flawlessly. Can't say for sure without seeing it.

Not sure if it will work after that... there is a significant force applied through the shaft.
you can see the whole mechanism on following pictures, tried to describe what is involved... and the main thing will be spring loaded metal "thing" that connects this shaft via off-center pin, a hook for the interior handle and at the bottom a hole for the exterior lever "pin". Overall the pin to cog wheel "connection" has to be really strong (hoped for some worm screw or something there but no luck this time)

in RED - a lever that is spring loaded and moves the handle in and out (via the cutout at the bottom of image)
in GREEN - a lever rotated by the shaft

shaft going through the quarter wheel moving the handle in/out
