Default Trunk Gas Strut Replacement

Replacing trunk gas struts. I have alredy replaced the hood gas struts on my 2019 LC 500 with Lexus OEM struts (Stabilus). No problem. Trunk struts are equally bad, so taking the part number off the existing strut purchased another pair of Stabilus struts. Even when the trunk lis stretched to is highest extension they don't fit, too long by less than 1/2". These struts DON'T compress by hand as clearly stated on packaging. So I loosened the hinge brackets on the trunk lip (body attachment not trunk lid attachment). Did it for both left and right sides, and the old struts are fully removed. Still couldn't get the trunk lid up high enough to install struts. There is a non-removable bar on the lower hinge that restricts it from opening any further, even with the lower hinge bracket unbolted and movable. I can't believe that Lexus would engineer this so that installation would require near complete disassembly/removal of both lower and upper brackets. Anyone run into this problem on the trunk lid gas struts? Is the extra 1/2" length in the strut to allow the trunk lid to pop open and automatically extend and fully open trunk? I can compress them on the work bench but holding the compression and installing isn't going to happen.

When you say they are a half inch too big, do you mean in comparison to the struts currently installed or from a fitment perspective. Just wondering out loud if you somehow got the wrong struts either due to changes in model years or an order fulfillment error.

Looks like there are three different OEM parts for the LC trunk struts.

Default No Wonder Condensation Gets Into The Camera Housing!

No Wonder Condensation Gets Into The Camera Housing! This Diagram shows it well. We already know why the door handles fail because of corrosion associated with water intrusion. I always wondered why there is corrosion on the trunk bolts. One member said to open your trunk after care washing and going on a drive to blow the water out. Looking at the diagram you can see that the camera is not in a separate housing like the other Lexus, but the Circuit board looks to open and just covered by the trunk liner. One has to wonder if the LC was put through all weather testing like volume sales cars like the ES that are used as daily drivers and more likely driven in the rain and snow.

Same length as currently installed. Same manufacturer, Stabilus, and cross referencing with Stabilus site, the part number installed is the same as manufacturer indicates it should be. Nope, these struts are the right ones.

Just spitballing here, but the three choices appear to compensate for the different trunk weights due to different equipment. Fixed spoiler vs active spoiler vs no wing. So, the length is probably the same, but the resistance is different.

Was my guess too. The optional Active Rear Wing adds quite a bit of weight to the trunk. My vehicle does not have that option. But still, Stabilus who is the OEM for Lexus indicates on its packaging that they can not be compressed by hand. I can compress them by hand on my wood topped workbench; however, maintaining the compression and installing them over the studs is a no go.
