Default Speed Governor

Have a really obscure techie-type question: does anyone know where the LC’s speed governor gets its information from? A month ago my brilliant little LC was clocked by the Loring Timing ***’n (Maine) at a whisker over 168 mph. I’m not inclined to try to disable the governor, nor would I know how. My plan for 2026 is to fit slightly oversized tires and shoot for 175, but if the governor is somehow connected to GPS or something, this would be a waste of time. So does the governor communicate with wheels, axles, or the transmission somewhere? Thanks!

I believe it it locked to 6000rpm in 7th gear, whatever speed you get at that gear/rpm is what your top speed is. at that point, it will not upshift or rev any higher
