Default Only two minor flaws, so far...

I've had my 2025 DHP V8 coupe for about 6 weeks now, have so far covered just over 2,000 miles. Had the oil changed at 1,100 miles, before I started extending the driveline properly.

I have so far identified only two minor gripes - I'm wondering whether these are common:

1) In manual mode, when shifting from 4th to 5th on a light throttle, the upshift is extremely clunky - as in the whole car briefly shunts - if I lift on that change, it's completely smooth, and there is nothing in auto mode, regardless of the drive mode. Have others experienced the same? Should I have it investigated, or just learn to drive around it?

2) The shifter **** keeps trying to unthread itself - I figure it's nothing some low-strength loctite wouldn't fix. Odd that it doesn't have that from the factory?

Overall, love the car - the driving dynamics, the comfort of the seats when stuck in traffic for hours, the sound, even the gas mileage is pretty good!

1) I have not noticed this but I will go pick up my daughter and give it some experimenting. I notice it in the opposite direction a lot though in Sport+ M mode. Cruising at 60+ in a higher gear and wanting to drop down to 5 using paddles, if you mash the paddle from 8 or 9 straight down to 5, the shift from 6>5 is VERY rough. If you go slowly and let 6 engage properly, then drop to 5, it's much smoother. In Auto mode, mashing the pedal results in a smoother shift to 5.

2) Give it a full 360 degree twist to the right. It doesn't come twisted on enough from the factory. I and others had the same problem. You don't need loctite, you just need to tighten it more.

Yeah, but then it won't be properly aligned (i.e. parallel) with the rest of the console - it would be at "half past twelve"...

Keep twisting, full 360 degrees from where it was so it's right back to normal. It will feel tight if you've twisted it all the way around back to 12.

My 4-5 shifts are pretty smooth under varying throttle inputs and varying speeds. Mine is only clunky in the opposite direction sometimes

I had the loose shifter as well. I was able to just hand tighten back in to place. Hasn't been an issue again.

Seems weird that Lexus would allow 360° worth of tightening “play“ in the shift **** from the factory. I can see a quarter turn or 180°.

I thought it was odd too, and was afraid to try. Didn't want to overtighten and have it snap or crack. But after the 3rd time I found it slanted from just normal use I said screw it and turned it the full extra turn and it's been solid ever since.

it’s been almost five years since I bought my LC but I am pretty certain I also had to do this when she was delivered!

FYI if you're using the shift **** to enter manual mode, you don't have to. Just hit the left paddle, it will drop a gear and put you in manual mode. Then you can up/down as needed. When you're ready to exit manual mode, hold the right paddle for 1-1.5 seconds and that will put it back in automatic mode.

Doesn't fix the shifter **** problem but possibly keeps you from touching it so much. Enjoy!

D# mode is quite different than M# mode....

D mode manual is worthless. M or nothing.

Yeah. It took me a long time to learn that D-paddle mode is a "gear limit" mode rather than an actual manual shift mode. Meaning, if you are cruising in D and hit the paddle down to get into D6, the car will no longer upshift past 6. It will continue to behave like an automatic though up to that gear selected. Mash the pedal in D6 and it is going to downshift as far as it can based on your speed, it just won't shift back into 7 unless you revert to D or paddle up to D7. If you did the same in M6, the car would just try to accelerate in 6th only, even if that means flooring it at 1800rpm and lugging the engine.

That said the shifts are also faster in M# compared to D#, and the downshift Rev matching is more aggressive in M vs. D# as well.
