Another Paddle Shifter Thread
Educating myself as much as possible while await delivery of my LC. Searched forum on paddle shifter with good result. Downloaded user manual and read it. Know how to enter M from D mode with gear shifter and exit M to D holding right paddle or using gear shifter. A bit confused on going to paddles from D vs to paddles from M as relates to performance one way or the other. Read there is a difference(?) Also, how system reacts if I'm distracted in either mode? Eg. going 45 mph off-ramp in M, stop or slow to make a turn onto a secondary road. In D and paddle-down to pass on a two lane road? Hard to frame the question with so many possible situations. Owner feedback? Thanks.
@ratchettt — is there not one new or used LC in your area for you to test drive?
Of course there’s nothing wrong with it, but YOU are the FIRST person to know that’s purchasing a specific car without ever seeing one, let alone test driving one.
But you are thorough and have done your due diligence.
I’m excited for you and hope there are no hiccups along the way to getting your much anticipated LC

When in D, you can manually choose your gear for a short period of time by using the paddle but remaining in D. Ex: crusing at 45mph in D the Trans is likely to be in 8th if in Normal mode (likely 5th or 6th if in S/S+). If you hit the downshift paddle, the car will put you immediately in 6th and you can then shift up or down from there. If you don't touch the paddle again, the car will revert to D after a period of 7-10 seconds. Alternatively you can hold the upshift paddle for 2 seconds and you will return to D.
Mx mode is entirely manual. If you are cruising at 45mph in M4, you will stay in 4 until you slow down enough for the computer to put you down to 3. If you are M4 and you approach a stop sign but forgot to downshift the car will automatically take you down to 3-2-1 as you stop, but it will only downshift when the computer senses that you've slowed down beyond the minimum speed for each gear.
Shfits using paddles in D are not as aggressive or as fast as when in proper M mode.
the 10 speed works seemlessly and is perfectly matched to the beast of a motor ; regardless of using either D or M, the manual tells you that the
trans will shift itself at sufficient rpms to protect the motor, which means that all you have to do is let it rip
First basic need to know is that Mx (x = gear number) is is different than Dx.

@ratchettt — Here’s your chance to set eyes on an LC in person, be able to sit, and ride in one‼️
If you’re anywhere near Knoxville, take @tennman117 up on his offer — What are you waiting for…

Also an excellent opportunity to directly interact with an actual owner, ask questions and get feedback. I’d definitely encourage taking advantage of this kind offer.

This is a very nice offer, very-very nice and beyond generous, tennman117 !!! Since I am already committed to the purchase, and while it may make no sense to anyone else but me, at this point I want my first-date with the 500 to be with my LC. Every experience will be new from the sound of the door closing to igniting the V8. After I have it and have a little seat-time and begin to become somewhat familiar with features, may I contact you for advice? I'm about 70-80 miles south. Again, many thanks for this most considerate offer.

No one needs to understand or have it make sense to them — You do what makes YOU happy — that’s all that matters.
I just thought when you said you’d never seen one in person and truly buying “any sight is unseen”, that perhaps you’d want to see one if given the chance.
Any status updates on when you get your first date with your LC ?!
This inquiring mind is nosey…
