Default Drive Modes

Maybe it's just me, but I honestly don't feel any significant change in the cars suspension in the different drive modes. I would expect "comfort" to be cushier, but it feels just like any other mode to me. Maybe it has something to do with the run flats? Does anybody else feel the same or do you guys feel an actual perceivable difference when in comfort mode? My previous daily was a Jaguar sedan and that thing felt like riding on air. The suspension was incredible. My LC is much sportier than my Jaguar and I expected a firmer ride, but I'm not thoroughly impressed with the ride quality for a Grand Tourer.

It’s quite possible that non run flat tires would improve your ride comfort. It’s definitely a balancing act for the suspension to provide reasonably good comfort and good handling capabilities in a 4300 lb vehicle.

Road conditions play a huge part. On normal/smooth roads you won't feel any difference, but go find some brick roads or ones that have a lot of bumps and you'll clearly be able to tell mode differences.

We have perfect roads here in AZ.....I can't discern any differences with the suspension in the modes either.

I’m confused lol. Are you complaining about the LC500 not being cushy enough or not firm enough?
You want cushy? Try an LS with air suspension. It’s like you’re on a cloud and just glide over the pavement. I love it.

I'm stating that I feel no real differences with the suspension when I change modes. Comfort mode feels the same as standard or even Sport. I was just expecting to feel a cushier ride when switched to comfort mode.

@Enzo954
As you alluded to earlier, the run flat tires may be your limiting factor for a “cushier “ride quality. More than a few owners have reported improved ride comfort by ditching the run flats.

Thought it was just me. I definitely don't feel much of a difference, between modes. My Masi GT is considerably more harsh in sport mode, it's a huge difference!

This is just the progression that Lexus made with their cars. The earlier model years are stiffer ride and heavier steering wheel. Then they get softened up as later model years come out. The biggest change on lc500 suspension is from 2021. Prior to that, the suspension is more stiff.
This is the same for their GSF. 2016 was really stiff. Then by 2018 and especially 2020, the ride had softened up quite a bit.

My 2024 LC500 comes with non-run flats from the factory as standard, and switching from run flats to regular tires does make very noticeable difference, since I also finally switched to regular ties last year for my AMG GT S, it used to ride very firm with the standard run flats, but now it becomes noticeably more supple, I wished I had done that sooner …..

I don't put many miles on the car, but when I need new tires, I'll probably switch to regular tires. Sucks not to have a spare in the trunk though.

I can tell between sport+ and comfort or sport + and normal, but the difference between normal and comfort is nearly indiscernible to me on my roads, all flat and paved, and I do my best to dodge potholes lol

I have Rs-R lowering springs on my 2018, and though it rides very nice, there is nothing stiff about it...in my opinion.

That’s the interesting point, a number of 2018 owners really like the original firmer suspension calibration. However there were enough complaints that Lexus did soften the suspension in 2019/20.

As mentioned above 2021 was a notable change with switching to some aluminum front suspension parts to reduce unsprung weight by 22 pounds (Not insignificant). There have been yearly fine tuning of the suspension since then. You simply can’t please everyone concerning preferable ride quality. Nonetheless I credit Lexus engineers for trying their best regardless. Again, tire choice (Run flat vs non) is rather impactful as many have reported over the years.
