I called my lexus and found out that the toyota/lexus dashcam is not compatible with my car.
I am looking for something that is slick and not too bulky for my LC.
I will have it professionally hardwired it.
Any suggestion is welcome.

Viofo A129. Sold at Amazon. They have a few models to choose from. You would need to buy the hardwire kit also.

The OEM dash cam is hilariously bad even by crappy dash cam standards.

Pick any dash cam you want, they all get their main parts from the same factories from China. Find one you like the looks of and get a harness from dongar that gets power from the dimming mirror.

I personally use Rexing dash cam simply because my friend showed me his and I got one and it does its job.

I use Viofo A229 Pro 2 channel in my coupe with Dongar Pro for tapping power from the rear view mirror. I even thought about two Viofo A129s - one attached to rear view mirror's power for the front and the second one for rear by tapping into lighter so as not to run the wires through roof panels, etc. You can hide majority of the wire but if you ever have a passenger in the rear seat then it is visible under their feet.

Viofo will show its size when you look from outside compared to BlackVue but on the 2 Channel Viofo model the rear camera is small.

I did try to attach the front camera to the cover near rearview mirror but somehow I did not get the angle properly hence it is mounted on the windshield for now.

 

I'm considering something like this. Will need some extra installation effort but I'm hoping the small camera sizes will pay off.
