As some of you may know, I've been trying since June to get a coupe w/ dynamic handling package. My insistence on the dynamic handling package locks me out of ordering bespoke.

When I first reached out, I said I wanted USB 2.0/Toasted caramel coupe w/ DHP, Mark Levinson, HUD I could take or leave, and the upgraded wheels (the stock wheels are not attractive, IMO, and the $40 optional wheels usually come with Michelin PS5s, much better tires than the Dunlops).

However, I am usually a green/tan car guy, but I was unsure about Nori Green. As I thought about it more and talked to my wife (who didn't love the USB), when the 25s were announced I reached out the same day to the sales manager and salesperson and gave them a screenshot of the build I wanted and changed the color to Nori Green. I also stated in the text that I want Nori Green, not blue. They acknowledged it and I didn't get a confirmation that Lexus was building the car until a full month later.

I heard today that the car is incoming in the next week or two and I asked for the VIN so I could shop insurance.

...it's USB 2.0 and no upgraded wheels. Kind of at a loss what to do, here is my thought process:

1. I'm spending six figures (!) for a car, it dang well should be the color I wanted. I communicated it clearly and they obviously didn't do anything with that information.

2. The wheels are also kind of a problem since wheels are tires are *expensive*, but I can always ask to swap them with existing cars they have unsold - they have a couple with the 21s.

3. I am pretty fed up with this process, Lexus really shouldn't do this for a flagship car and it's a horrible experience compared to ze Germans who let your order basically whatever you want. I am pretty unwilling to wait another god know how many months, or not get one at all, and I now don't have a ton of trust...

Of course, they can always try and do a dealer swap - there are one or two Nori Green DHP coupes I see in the nation - and I will let them try. But curious what you all would do in my shoes.

I would be pretty pissed if the USB I wanted turned out to be Nori Green.
The wheels are more of a problem though. The upgraded wheels are about 3k EACH. But if you take that car as is and want to swap the wheels, you’d be lucky to get back 3K for the entire default set that you have now.
I personally would not take the vehicle. There’s got to be the vehicle you want somewhere given enough time.

Hold on to your “must haves” — the $$ that you’re paying should warrant you getting EXACTLY what your must have list says!! Do not settle — even if you have to wait longer, it’ll be far more worth it than having regrets…

I would also go through another dealership if there’s another one near you. They obviously didn’t think your specific requests were important enough for them to make sure they got it right. I happen to have three dealerships in the area and we drive out of our way to go to a specific one bc they have excellent customer service and treat you as a person and not a number.

 

Are you purchasing or Leasing? Will they discount it enough to make it palatable? I could have gone anywhere for the purchase since I was paying cash. But for me, while white was not my first choice I couldn't pass up the discount they were offering on that unit. Nori Green is also my favorite color and they had a used one that I originally wanted. But they discounted the new white lower than the used price. I'm also not that particular about the rims or tires. If you think you'll always regret your decision and it will affect your enjoyment, hold out for what you want especially if they don't make any adjustment.

 

Purchasing in cash. It would have to be a *heck* of a discount for me to buy a color over the one I wanted, but I am probably more color sensitive than most. I spend almost two years finding a green/tan 911 - just not that many.

 

With Cash you definitely have the advantage. You can go to anyone who has what you want, walk in and make the sale, that's powerful. Sounds like you need to get what you want regardless who has it.

Mine was 19,745.00 off the Selling price of 114,745.00. In fairness it was also a 23' purchased in 24' (while I like the 24's cameras, I preferred the dash layout of the 23).

 

Looks like you have answered your own question then. Hold on to your cash and find the color you really want.
Have you looked at nationwide to see if a Nori Green coupe is available and have it shipped? Shipping and receiving a vehicle can open up another can of headache if they damage the car.

 

500 mile radius on the Lexus site from our area only shows 5 with the DHP, none in Nori Green. Only Nori I see does not have the DHP and is a Black interior.

Would assume is fairly accurate.

 

Sorry for your experience- it's true that Lexus/Toyota have no idea how to fulfill customer orders properly, and this is probably why they don't offer factory orders at all typically like German or American manufacturers.

What is preventing you from going out of state and buying one of these? I'd have barked up that tree long ago if I were you!

 

Haven't seen any that weren't spoken for! There was actually a perfect 24 Nori Green nearby, about 50 miles away, but it was spoken for. That's been my experience with the DHP green coupes so far.

 

Ohh I see - that makes more sense. I thought you meant they were listed on dealer sites as available for sale.

 

I assume you have seen a Nori Green Lexus and okay with it?
I don’t know how your Porsche green looks like but the Nori Green is very dark. The green only comes out in direct sunlight or on a very bright day. If the color matters that much, make sure you know what you’re getting.

Which is why I was a bit unsure - it's not the kind of green I usually prefer, but it's not a skittles green which I probably wouldn't go for no matter what - I do prefer the "classier" but also more green greens. Nori is what you said but also seems to have a...brown(?) flake to it which made me hem and haw. But I realized if I am a green/tan guy, gotta get a the green LC.

 

If you've located one that you like, I'd send a deposit to the dealer and I am on a plane.

 

There’s much to admire about the LC 500 but ordering a new one just seems to restrictive of personal choices for potential buyers. A car in this price range should absolutely allow very specific choices to be made. I still plan to purchase one (Too many positives to ignore) but getting precisely what I want is going to take some work it seems.
