Voice Command & Hybrid engine revs
Hi,
As a relatively new owner (3 months) I have a couple of questions I´m hoping someone may be able to answer.
1. Is there a voice command to cancel/stop route guidance?
I´ve watched loads of videos and have tried "Cancel Route" "Delete route" "Stop guidance" and pretty much every combination of every phrase I can think of.
2. I have noticed that sometimes when the car is coasting, the hybrid power indicator shows the wheels feeding the battery and the engine doing nothing (not powering wheels or charging battery), yet the rev counter is steady at 2,000 rpm.
Does anyone know what is happening in these circumstances?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

But I will have another go tomorrow.

I use "Cancel guidance" or "Cancel route" in either my wife's 2019 ES or my 2024 LC and it does the trick. I wonder if there's some kind of language/translation issue going on.
I also have a hybrid, but I'm away on vacation right now, so it'll be a few days before I can check the engine rev issue on mine.
Welcome to Club Lexus, always nice to interact with Lexus owners from all over the world.
Your thread includes the fact that your LC is Spanish (European) Spec. Are you prompting the car
in English or Spanish? Either way it is important to always wait until you hear the car acknowledge you.
Are you using the native Lexus Navigation or Apple/Google Maps?
On the subject of your Hybrid "coasting" or not, you wrote that the Hybrid Indicator shows the wheel to battery charging path.
On US spec Lexus we cannot see the Hybrid Mode gauge and the Tachometer at the same time. Tachometer displays
when the car is in "Sport" drive mode and the Hybrid mode show in Normal or Economy. Does the engine sound as if
it is running at 2000 RPM?

Thanks CarolinaGeo,
I've found the problem with using any phrase starting with the word "cancel" leads to the system cancelling the dialogue.
Your mention of translation is interesting. Maybe my car is still mourning the loss of its previous (Spanish) owner. I'll try switching the language back to Spanish and see what happens.
I would be interested to know if your hybrid does the same thing, especially with it being the latest model.
Thanks for your reply.

Thank you for the welcome.
I am using English through the Lexus native navigation system.
The rev counter (tachometer) is permanently displayed in the central, moving dial in all drive modes. The hybrid power monitor can be selected on the side panel when the dial is moved across. Hence it's possible to view both at once. The revs are also shown on the HUD.
When coasting, with the rev counter showing 2,000 rpm it doesn't sound as if the engine is running. Although the car is so quiet it's sometimes difficult to tell above the noise of rubber on tarmac lol

I was able to give the engine rev scenario a try late last night and earlier today. Here's what I found -
When I am coasting and the engine is not engaged in powering the wheels or the battery, the engine will usually be at 1000rpm, but sometimes at 1500rpm. Once I saw it at 2000rpm. I wonder if it might have something to do with the temperature of the engine, because the 2000rpm instance was last night when it was pretty cold. Of course, once the vehicle goes into EV mode, the rpm indicator goes to 0. So apparently coasting does not necessarily idle the engine, unless you switch into EV mode.

It´s always hot over here so maybe the engine runs to keep the cooling system going and the water pumping when coasting.
It doesn´t do it all the time, so maybe that´s the answer - the engine needs to be busy doing something other than driving the wheels or charging the battery.
But it´s unlikely to be running under any load and therefore not using much fuel.
Thanks for taking the time to investigate and report back !
My previous car was an Aston Martin DB9 V12 Volante, and in the end it just got too expensive to use as a daily drive. 16mpg on a good day.
The Lexus is a beautiful compromise. I think it has the looks of the DB9, equal performance, more technology and 42mpg. Servicing costs are also less than half that of the Aston. I'm also told that parts are not that expensive.
So, in short, I'm loving it!
