The office I manage has loads of high-end cars in the parking lot. A guy at work who owns a 2023 BMW M8 asked me the other day why I bought the LC500 over a MB or BMW which produce faster cars in the same price range. I gave all of the usual reasons that we all do...uniqueness, gorgeous exterior/interior, reliability etc. He just texted me 30 minutes ago that he's going to be late tomorrow because his car is showing multiple error codes and he's dropping it off at the dealership in the morning.
I had to laugh out loud when I read your post about your co-worker's BMW...the high-pressure fuel pump on my 2009 BMW 335i M-Sport conv't failed SEVEN TIMES in the 8 years I drove it...and the local BMW dealer here in Raleigh as well as BMW Corporate could have cared less whether I was a satisfied customer or not. Which is WHY I'm currently driving a 2023 LC 500 Convertible vs. EVER CONSIDERING buying a new BMW M8 convertible (or ANY BMW ever again for that matter).
ditto, sold my 17 Porsche 991.2 S,,,3 waterpumps in 50K,,,come on...each under warranty,,,NO loaner and 1 hour away..I had the service dept. on speed dial.....what a POS car and the dealer could care less...
I had an RS6 that had a bad alternator after 18K miles. It was under warranty and they give me POS rental cars but it took almost 8 weeks to get the part. I sold it less than 2 weeks after it was repaired. I didn't want to even think about repair costs after the warranty expired .....much less driving around half the time in some crap rental car.
I am anxious to get my LC and enjoy the driving experience without interruption.

I'm adding to my own post from yesterday. Today I had another employee running late because he had to bring his 2023 Corvette C8 to the dealership. Warning lights came on and engine was behaving strangely. They called him back this afternoon and told him he needs a completely new transmission. He's so pissed!

Thanks for the update @enzo954. I guess I dodged another bullet (beyond not getting another crappy BMW)...I tried (unsuccessfully) to order a 2020 C8 Corvette during the pandemic but luckily the local Chevy dealer was asking $10K-12K over sticker price and also told me at that time, the wait would be ~18 months. Thrilled I decided to pick up a new 2023 LC 500 convertible instead! Beyond the current C8 transmission problems, Chevy has produced more than 150K units since 2020 ...most now selling at a significant discount (both new + used). I knew buying the LC was the right decision but it's always great to get further confirmation on a daily basis! Thank you!

But the Corvette rated #1 on Edmunds in Luxury/Exotic Sport Coupes (LC500 is #8). The LC500 Convertible is listed as #6 in Luxury Sport Convertibles. Personally I don't think the Convertible gets enough love, but them I'm biased by owning one. Also I wouldn't know **** about track driving or racing so there is that (I do understand Fun).

I get it...I've owned three Corvettes in my past life (back when I was in high school and college) so I clearly understand how loyal Corvette owners are to the brand. I've also driven the new C8 and believe its Chevy's best effort to date since maybe 1963-1967. For my money though, I'd rather have the exclusivity and quality build reputation of my Lexus convertible (and there are at least 10 C8's in my small neighborhood now but I'm the only LC owner). With that being said, I may eventually pick up a C8 e-Ray...
We agree on the build quality and definite exclusivity of the LC500. Way too many Corvette's around here (well, it is Detroit) along with the other usual types (Mustangs, Hellcats, etc). At least with the Chrysler/Diamler, FCA then Stellantis sale, the "buy" American rhetoric toned down some. So now you see a lot more Tesla's, European and Asian vehicles. Although, it's hard to compete with the Employee discounts received when working for the OEM's.
We are die hard Lexus fans and have been for some time, next one to be added will be the new GX (wife's).
I agree...there is a great monthly Cars and Coffee here in NC (takes place on Page Road in RTP) that is well attended by hundreds of other impressive exotics but usually only one or two LC 500s on a good day.
