Looked at a rather nice 2020 LC500 yesterday while on the Mainland. Car checked out pretty well...just a few minor items that the dealer should be able to resolve.
The one issue that stuck out and migth be rather difficult to repair is damage to the 21" polished forged alloy wheel. It is the rear driver's side wheel and as you can see from the pic, it appears to be a scratch (not a crack) that the previous owner tried to fill in or paint over. It was difficult to tell what had happened and the dealer stated they missed it. Strange that I found it before they did but that is another story.
Anyway, would like to hear opinions of what may have happened here and how a good wheel specialist might handle the repair...I don't know if the entire wheel would need to be rechromed or what. There are just two other items the dealer can handle but they are unsure about the wheel and will not know until early next week when I am elsewhere on the Mainland.
If there is little they can do and will not replace the wheel, it may kill the deal for me given it is not a small thing (IMHO). As always, thanks in advance for any opinions.
Hard to believe they missed it, and that they did not repair (reputable dealerships have wheel shops on standby). Lexus dealership? In case more LCs on your list have curb rash, contact Pro Dent Hawaii (Servco Lexus contracted) for an estimate, they're outstanding, and in most cases, mobile. Quality pics are enough for an accurate estimate. Car may be in good shape but not feeling sales rep. I'd put in bottom of list and look at next car.

Thanks Duke. I should have stated it looks like a “polish” repair…not “chrome”. Valid point about the sales rep…which started off well with a personal pick-up from airport. I’ve not purchased a car from a dealership in ages and need to be careful of getting emotionally attached to this one car. That said, it is a Nori Green Inspiration series and checks all the boxes…an even nicer look than Mica that I was originally pretty set on. We’ve agreed on around $76k (17k miles) so I think their solution needs to be a damn good one. Not sure how much replacing the entire wheel would set them back.
I agree very hard they missed that, especially when it came into them for the first time. They go over them and this model, with a fine tooth comb. That said, ok all checks out 17K miles only, and its a rim. Replace it go halves what ever, only a rim and its easily replaceable.

Thanks Fodalo. Dealership had the scratch repaired and sent several pics and a video...can't tell the scratch was even there. Next is a 3 square inch of paint touch up on the passenger's side rocker panel which should be pretty straight forward. Trying to line up one more inspection from a qualified, independent mechanic in Tuscon and have a few leads so far. I assume the Lexus dealership will want the inspection to take place at their location and refusing to allow it would seem like a red flag.

Glad they're working with you. I can understand them wanting it to remain on property and as long as they allow your inspector access to inspect it i don't see a problem.

Well...two steps forward and one step back. Received pics and video of paint touch up and it looks great. But...bit of a snag with the PPI. Dealer wants it done at their location (which I can understand) but the independent mechanics I've contacted in Tuscon will only do the PPI at their shop. I can understand both sides. Anyway, am speaking with the salesman tomorrow to see what we can work out. Hopefully there are conditions where they will let the car off the lot for a few hours but if not, need to keep looking for a local mechanic who will inspect the car at the dealership.
Glad it worked out Reefbreak! I'm sure all will be well with the inspection, its not a Ford Escape.
I'm sure the PPI will be fine too once I can get one arranged. I learned the hard way about not getting a PPI on an out of warranty 911 I purchased many moons ago.
