Lc500 convbertible or bmw z4?
I am considering purchasing either the LC500 or the Z4. Yes, I know the LC500 does not fit within the Z4 category. Here is my dilemma...
I'm retired and now only need a two seater car. The Z4 seems like it would be more fun to drive. The LC500 seems probably more reliable and comfortable. My big question (?) is,.. would the LC500 be fun to drive?
Input is appreciated.

But what is your definition of “fun to drive”?
And here’s another question to ponder. Would a manual transmission be part of your “fun to drive” quotient?
You may have heard/read that the 2024 BMW Z4 M40i is going to be available to order with a 6 speed manual. The MT author (link below) suggests the Z4 manual feels better than the Supra manual, and better than the BMW M2 and M3 manuals.

Hmmm? The 6 speed manual 2024 BMW Z4 just might be a very fun roadster to drive at a more affordable price point than the LC500.
Sorry to add to your dilemma…nice one to have!
Or you could … buy both!

I have owned both.
The Z4 is a go cart in handling and definitely a fun drive but in no way compares to the LC
The LC is the very definition of a luxury GT car.
Not the fastest around but it can't be beat for the sheer enjoyment of ownership.
You could buy two Z's for the price.
Best way to decide is to drive both.

Test driving and sitting in a vehicle is so very important.
When shopping for my convertible, I eliminated some by simply sitting in them. They might be too low (C8 Corvette) or too cramped (Jaguar F Type, limited seat recline range) for my seating comfort.
The other challenge may be finding the vehicle to sit in/test drive. The 6 speed manual BMW Z4 is not hitting market until first quarter 2024. Dealerships I have worked with have allowed me to place a refundable deposit on a new vehicle order conditional upon test drive. When the vehicle comes in, I test drive. If I don’t like it, my deposit is refunded.
Of course, you may not want a manual transmission Z4.
Enjoy the journey of finding the car you want to buy!

Z4s are impressive. Beautiful, with great lines. However, if you suffer the slightest claustrophobia you will definitely enjoy the spaciousness of the LC. Not to say the LC has tons of room, it just feels like you do when you're in the driver's seat. Sure, the Z4 will handle better but unless you drive at limits where it matters, the LC will more than hold its own, imo. And top down driving is absolutely fantastic in LC. It is my recreation and my therapy.

I know the new Z4 is certainly different from the 2009 BMW M-Sport convertible i bought new and drove for 8 years (80K+ miles) but when the car's high-pressure fuel pump failed SEVEN times and BMW wouldn't stand behind their product, the decision for me was easy. Instead of ordering a new BMW M4 or M8, I bought a new LC 500 convertible (currently 4.5 miles). You couldn't GIVE me a new BMW...they are garbage IMO and BMW could care less. I will NEVER own a BMW ever again! Good luck with your decision.
