Default Dodgy Lane Keeper System

I’ve had my new-to-me LC500 for about 10,000 miles, and I find everything about it captivating: speed, comfort, exhaust, handling, even the infotainment functionality.
Except its lane-keeping feature, which really doesn’t work worth a dime. What parts of the car are supposed to read highway lines? Maybe the sensors are dirty. Maybe they’re intermittent. Maybe they’re just lousy.
Any help out there?

Yes it’s awful. That said - as long as you don’t try to treat it or rely on it as a self-driving feature like in a Tesla - it does seem like a useful assist feature to sort of wake you up if you’re drifting out of your lane - but that’s about it.

Yes, it's cr@p. Had a Tesla Model X 2017 and it worked great for driving, holding corners, going around bends, staying in the lane, auto changing lanes with only turning on the blinker. I'm sure they have gotten even better by now. Wife got a 2022 Sienna minivan with the same LKA system. Took some getting used to as it is only good for straight lines and very mild bends. It wanders and then alarms on itself because it's incompetent for what it should do. On my 2022 LC is the exact same crap system. Keep your expectations low and keep your eye on it and get used to it alarming all the time. Wife won't let me use it when she's in the car because it alarms all the time unless you drive perfect and it can't even do that itself.

These systems are a godsend for long boring journeys… but the 2021 Lexus system is pants. I’ve got a brand new ES courtesy car today while Elsie is in for her service and that’s just as crap.
Tesla FSD was clever but pointless - in the uk bus stops are marked with paint… so Tesla decided to throw you into oncoming traffic. Every time. Phantom braking was real, dangerous and terrifying, to the point you’d be covering the accelerator every time you’d pass a truck or go under a bridge.
2017 Kia is as good as the Teslas over 40mph, and doesn’t brake for ley lines, district boundaries, time zones or trucks. I’ve done hours at a time totally relaxed with one hand lightly resting on the wheel occasionally.

I'm not sure about <'24 MY but i can adjust sensitivity of the system. I usually hunt for apexes and the system lets me get pretty close to solids before engaging. I have mine set to the middle setting. I do tend to cross solids on conservative corners and when i do the system does get annoying. Otherwise fine with it.
