After remote start must engine turn off before getting in? As soon as I unlock it the damn thing turns off - please tell me there’s a way around this besides getting in Dukes of Hazard style

That's the way all OEM remote starts are.

It wasn’t that way on my 2023 Corvette - I could remote start it (and put the top down too if I wanted) and then just get in and go - it was the same for all C8 Vettes (2020 and newer). It’s not that way on my 2018 Jeep Wrangler either (or my old 2014 Camaro Convertible).

Interesting...

I've had remote start on multiple vehicles and it has always turned off when you open the door. (I have never owned an American car, however--only Japanese, German, and Italian)

I have a couple of BMW's (2019, 2021) with remote start. You can remote start engine, unlock the vehicle, get in and you have about 2 minutes to place your foot on the brake pedal and press the start/stop button before the engine will turn off. Works great

That’s exactly how my Jeep Wrangler does it as well as my old Corvette and Camaro - would be nice if the LC would allow for that.

Lexus/Toyota have not updated Remote Crank since the ‘80s. Everyone else allows you to get into the car and push start without killing the engine. Remote start with the key fob is crap!. Only worth a remote start if you use the app from a great distance in Lexus/Toyota.

The remote start comes in handy down here in Florida with the horrible heat. Nice to have the AC running for a bit before entering the car. The automatic shut off is annoying but I try to have a positive outlook on it. At least you get to hear the exhaust note when you restart the car again!

I remember when the dealer was telling me about this amazing function! I had to stop him when he said it turns off when you get in -- "Doesn't that defeat the purpose?" I asked. "Ummmm..." was his appropriate response. Such a dumb feature.

* Select model year 2022 and newer vehicles equipped with Lexus Remote Connect will allow you to remote start and drive-off. You can review your vehicles features and capabilities within the Lexus app or refer to your Owner's Manual .
Remote Vehicle Start & HVAC (lexus.com)

However, I cannot find anything regarding the remote start with the fob in the LC500 2024 manual. App only?

Not true of Hyundai/Kia/Genesis either. i use the remote start on my hyundai santa fe work vehicle all the time, get in, drive off, no re-starting.
it's REALLY annoying that it turns off on lexus, to the point i don't use the feature unless i think the car will be scorching inside, but even then i find it irritating that i have to start the car again.
