Default Brake Pad Wear Sensors - HOW MUCH!!!!?

No doubt someone will say "Stop moaning, it's an expensive car", BUT, here goes anyway.

My LC500 had a B Service and had the front discs and pads replaced (at Lexus) today. If you've not done that yet, get saving!

Anyway, all done - all OK..........apart from the fact that the dealer has to order in some brake pad wear sensors. Wait for it....... £280 (~$350). WTF! For a couple of wires!

Anyone been stung by this? Did you just pay it or find an alternative?

If nothing else, hopefully this post will one day prove useful to someone.

Following. I just dealt with this too and it's a very poor design by Lexus. Hopefully there's an aftermarket solution but unfortunately I replaced with oem brake sensors even when replacing with aftermarket brakes.

Phew - someone that feels the same

I just feel that Lexus are having a laugh. Yes, I know that the LC500 (for what it is) is a comparatively cheap car to run, but having paid for a major service, front discs and pads, to be told "BTW you need to spend $350 on a couple of wires..." - that can't be right.

According to Ebay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/155462696...3ABFBMhpbBgaFi

Not just $350 for a few wires but $350 each time those wires wear out...

wow eBay is significantly cheaper. Thanks for the heads up. How much were the brake pads and rotors ? How come you needed rotors too ?

i keep reading that for the LCs you can’t just do pads. Apparently gotta do rotors each time as well. Wtf.

The discs (sorry, rotors) and pads for the front came to £770 (~$977). I htink in the US, you'll have more options.

Yep, it seems that the discs will do around 50k. Lexus said that my discs (which would have been the original) were lipped and wouldn't outlast a new set of pads. I just got discs and pads done and got it out of the way.

Another tip. Get your pads changed BEFORE you hit the wear sensor - that will save the sensor and it can be re-used.

I have a full warranty on mine. I think the only thing Lexus doesn't cover are wiper blades and brake pads... Now Im wondering when it does come time for my change what Im going to be stuck with lol.

Change the pads before they wear the sensors out; they can be reused if the sensors don't get tripped.

Just buy them on ebay and hand them to your mechanic with a 20 spot.
