Just noticed this noise today. I don’t think it has anything to do with the belts as it is intermittent and not constant. I’m not sure, but has anyone experienced this and if so what was the culprit? Any guesses as to what is causing that noise?

It was my Serpentine belt. Had an oil leak in the AC compressor which lubricated the belt which caused it to slip and ultimately break. $3100 later I have to replace the AC compressor and the belt.

 

Awe, sorry to hear that. Again, we never know. Yes its a lexus but its not free of issues and is why I bought the extended warranty.

 

It's all good. I mean it's the only major cost I've had to pay on the vehicle, just didn't expect it to come up on a 42K mile motor.
