Default RB Performance XT910 brake pads for LC500

Hi All,

Anyone have the mentioned pads on their LC's? I just installed a set on all 4 corners and squeaking sound is horrible when coming to a stop. It's so loud, it sounds like a train slowing down on some railroad tracks.

I followed the bed in procedure included in the box with no change in noise. The bed in instructions seemed kind of mild; 6-8 stops at 35mph down to 25mph then 3-4 stops at 55mph down to 40mph.

Install was pretty straight forward and the shims from the OEM pads will not fit these pads, so no shims were used.

Still waiting to hear back from RB but wanted to see if there were any members here with the same issue....or not.

i've never heard of them, but why did you choose those vs. oem?
best of luck on the squeaks!

One thing I learned from owning a Ferrari is that if you put non-oem high-performance brake pads on it is nearly impossible to get them to be quiet.

Hope you can figure your situation out!

I had Ferodo DS2500 pads in the front and Project Mu HC+800 pads on the rear of my previous ISF. When properly bedded in, there was no noise and the pads performed GREAT In the future when it's time to replace pads in the LC I will be looking a Project Mu. Ferodo does not make pads for the LC

Sorry for the late response since I didn't have notifications turned on but here's an update:

RB said to take off all the rotors and sand them down along with re-bedding them. After removing all the calipers and taking off all the rotors, I sanded them down with some 80 grit. Slapped everything back together and did a few more bed ins. The front pads stopped squeeling after the 2nd or 3rd bed in. Braking performance also feels good.

I thought noise was gone for the rears but after driving about 10-15 miles, the squeal would get louder and louder. Try bedding them in about 4 more times and the noise is still there. These pads also don't have shims. Still waiting on RB to come up with a solution but it seems like the only time I'm driving this car now, is to perform the bed in procedure or checking for noise.

Here's some pics of the stock rear pads and the XT910's.

Maybe I should have gone with Project Mu or Tom's?

I've installed these for my friend's car and he liked them. I was looking for a pad with low dust and no squeaks since my stock pads were very dusty a little squeeling at low speeds

I would take the rear rotors off and have them resurfaced as that will remove all brake-pad deposits from the previous pads.

Assemble and bed the pads in, and you should be good.

^^^^Unless the rotors have high spots IMHO, it is never a good idea to "turn" resurface rotors.

Default RB Bed In Runs

Hi,
When I switched to the RB pads I had some pretty loud squealing. RB told me to sand and re-bed but at higher speeds and for more runs. I performed enough to get the pads smoking and it did the trick but not completely to my liking. I do like the pads and RB sent me a free set of rears since the squealing didn’t go away to my satisfaction. Now I’m having trouble with pads rubbing a little while driving so my plan is to buy some more fronts, sand the rotors, clean and lube the pins and bed in more than before.

Hey Bubbles,

Is noise still coming from both front and back? My fronts stopped making noise so kept those but couldn't get the noise for the rears to go away. They did give me a refund for the rears and said the it was due to the unworn lip near the center of the rotor making contact with their pad, that was causing the noise. You'll notice their pads are wider than OEM sized pads. I reinstalled the stock rear pads and the noise went away but got tired of the dust. Ended up getting some Power Stop rear pads and they are similar size and design as the OEMs. No noise and dust.

I do remember that one of the pads was a really tight fit in the rear calipers.

Tom's brake pads are the best. I installed them vs the original OEM performance ones and never looked back.
