Default Opinion on LBX

Hello all
its my first time purchasing a Lexus and I’m sceptical. I want to buy an LBX but I don’t know much about the brand other than it’s a luxury Toyota sub brand. Can you help me decide, tell me about the hidden costs, maintenance, problems etc. just to be fair, I want to tell you that I’m torn between the LBX and the Alfa Romeo junior

thank you all in advance

Toyota "sub" brand? LOL, ok. Lexus is a world-renowned standalone brand with an almost 40-year track record. If that's not enough for you, then it's really not the right brand for your purposes.

If you are skeptical, why would you want a bunch of strangers on the internet to convince you. go with your gut and get the Alfa, and get to know your mechanic really well.

And be sure to have a 2nd car while waiting for parts, just in case it needs repair.

Well obviously I know what Lexus stands for. Maybe I didn’t say it correctly because English is not my first language. Either way, Alfa is out of the table for me (my wife likes it a lot). Driving wise I see the superiority of Lexus but as I stated I don’t know maintenance wise and resale value. I believe these things must be answered by Lexus owners. Sorry for the misunderstanding

The alfa is going to be comically unreliable in comparison, here in the states we don't even have support for them anymore and lord they need it often.

I like the LBX interior. Completely different interior theme compared to any other Lexus

Make sure you know the size limits as it’s considered a subcompact SUV — very limited room in the back seats and cargo storage area.

Personally, I’d say you can’t go wrong with the Lexus brand.

All the best to you in your decision and hopeful ownership

The LBX isn't even available in the States. Maybe one of our european members has some more experience with it.

Thank you for your question, Manos. Welcome to CL, as a new poster. ...and I'm sorry that you had to put up with the less-than-ideal-politeness of some of the other responses here. .....it was certainly not deserved on your part. You had a fair and legitimate question. Basically, though, I agree with them that the LBX would be a far safer buy. Most Italian-designed vehicles, including Alfas, are a questonable buy concerning quality, reliability, and potential longevity. And, particularly here in the U.S., they don't have very good dealer-networks to support them.

My advice...get the LBX, except that the LBX is not available in the U.S. or Canada, unless you are buying one in another country. If you are buying in North America, consider the UX instead.

Personally, I think the LBX probably should be available here in the U.S....even if it is not. Small crossovers are arguably the top-selling vehicle-class in the auto-market right now.

I saw the interior and I was amazed by it. As for the back seats and storage area they are indeed a little bit smaller than I thought but it’s not a do not buy factor to me. Wanting it mainly because my family begins to expand, I believe that by the time my child becomes old enough to strangle sitting in the back seat, I will move to a bigger car, and if everything goes well I hope the next car will also be a Lexus

I have a few friends in the world who have the LBX (I am envious), but they have nothing but praise for the workmanship and quality of the vehicle despite its size and price. I know a few friends in South America where they just are starting to get the LBX that are going to pull the trigger. Interestingly enough for us Americans, Lexus recently registered LBX with the US Patent and Trademark Office. While I am hopeful it will come one day, at least I know it does have its fans and happy owners.

I would recommend you make sure an infant car seat will fit in the back seat of the LBX. Not sure about the rules of where you live, but here in the U.S. the car seat must be rear-facing up to a certain age before being able to turn it around to forward-facing.

Maybe behind the passenger seat will have more room as you can adjust seat forward to have enough space for the car seat to fit and the driver’s seat might be positioned too far back so might not be enough room.

It’s a great idea moving to a bigger car when your family grows in size and the UX, NX, RX will be great options for you.

If the LBX doesn’t have enough room for the car seat to fit properly, I agree with @mmarshall suggesting you consider the UX as that might have enough room for your growing family.

i assume Manos is from Europe, maybe Greece? LBX is about right sized vehicle in Europe. Its Toyota brother - Yaris Cross is actually best selling Toyota in Europe (and Toyota is 2nd biggest brand).

And yes, it can fit child seats in the back.
