Default Can I run with ECT Power mode continuosly?

I like the quicker throttle response, can I keep it on without any drawbacks besides drop in MPG? Thanks

you SHOULD use it in PWR mode ALWAYS. It'll make your transmission last longer. It firms up the shifts, and generates less heat. less heat = more tranny life. A few toyota master techs said always, always use PWR mode.

there's a writeup on supraforums, by Raven77099 or something like that. The guy's name is Jared, and he's really tino the A340s. He's the one who shows how to do the valve shim mod, and he's the one (among others) that have said ALWAYS PWR mode.

Normal if for "slow soft shifts" for people who think PWR it too harsh. The less you feel the transmission, the more it has to work for you to feel less, the more you feel, the less the transmission has to work. Hence shift kits.

do you have the 250?

I notice a difference when I'm cruising along and when I hit the throttle to pass someone or just to accelerate, the ecu will force the tranny to downshift a gear or two instead of keeping it in the same gear and accelerate in the gear I am in unless I mash it to the floor of course.

Throttle response is better at part throttle. Full throttle is the same though.

Hmm, this is an interesting thread. This makes me want to run power all the time lol. I miss the downshifts when coming to a stop. If you don't feel the difference with power then you're probably in manual shift mode. I made that mistake, but once in full auto mode you feel it.

Does this mean that snow mode is bad for your transmission in the long run? I actually control my max gear a lot to cut down on excess shifts (ie 6th gear while going 35mph, when i rather stay in 4th), am I hurting or prolonging the transmission this way?

EDIT: Read up on ravens shim mod, seems like faster/harder shifting = longer transmission life which would correlate with using pwr mode. I couldn't find anything specifically saying that you should run power though.
