Default Best place for Y shaped jack stands?

Ive searched and seem some conflicting opinions. Most of these were old posts. Can someone tell me (who has put Y shaped jack stands on an IS) where is a good place on the vehicle to place such stands?

I finally got a pretty low hydraulic jack...made some steps out of 2X6's to give me enough clearance to get to the front center jack point. I want to lower it onto stands.

Mine are not all flattened but they sure have some pushed in areas. So ...anyone: If i put a block of wood on jack stands. Jack it up with my hydr. jack from the front center...then just keep the car on the jack stands (with the bock) without bearing full weight, if the car settles on them in the event of a jack failure: Will the blocks of wood crush this rail or will the weight be distributed enough?

I don't like putting jackstands on any part of the car except for the frame. The challenge (for me at least) was finding a jack that will jack the car high enough, yet is still low enough of a profile to fit under the car.

get 2x4 block and cut a slit in it to fit between the jack points so you dont crush that tab.

I place my jack stands on the frame with a 1 ft long 2x4 peice between the car and jack stand.

I thought of that..my concern is that there are some bends in the rail already..a slit will either just chew the wood up or it will bend it more. Grrrr. I'll figure it out.

Not sure if it was the best idea, but I put the jack stands under the control arms. I didn't want to bend that area with the jack notches and the chassis didn't seem very solid for some reason... maybe it was just whatever the coating was but when I knocked on it, it seemed hollow. Everything worked out okay doing it this way though.

I can't even jack my car up high enough or find the points to use a racing jack to use jackstands FML. And yes I tried the suggested jack points but being on air makes it impossible.
